I have 8 and 10 string versions along with 8 string lap steels. This one is tuned Hawaiian, although don't know the exact tuning. He was stationed on the islands in WWII and played in a band where he learned steel so all the ones I have are tuned in some tropical fashion. The two left pedals work on the near set and the two middle the far set and the right, both. I can play some of Harbor Lights and a little of Last Date, poorly, but want to tune the 10 string versions Western. Haven't had time to goof with them much but want to.

I had a MSA years ago, I never learned to play it very well. I knew Tommy Morell, Larry White, Maurice Anderson if you've ever heard of any of those guys.

I don't know about them but bet my FIL would have.
I played with a couple steel players in Florida in the 70s that were top notch, love the sound of a well played pedal. One fellow, Dean Bass, would get to playing a rock tune and have both hands, both feet and both knees tearing it up. Looked like he badly needed to take a break.

I'm looking to buy a guitar for my daughter. I need to ship it to her as she lives on the east coast. I can't afford to buy anything expensive, plus I think it may be just a fad for her. She's petite, so I was thinking of a youth size? Any suggestions?

Acoustic or electric? Even with smaller women, youth size is sometimes a bit too small for the fingers and arms to work around.

Sorry, an acoustic guitar. Have seen some on CL, Yamahas, Epiphone, Ibanez? I've no idea.

I recommended the Yamaha FG700S, Martin LX1 or a Taylor Baby Taylor.

Any of those listed will work. Truthfully, I don't believe the guitar makes the player anymore, but you should buy new from a reputable shop that will have it set up and tuned with good strings. The learning curve is a little easier when you're not playing on janky equipment. For low to midrange budget, a lot of people can get into Alvarez. I like them as well, but I don't really go buying up acoustics.

Thanks guys, seems the wife and my youngest have decided on getting her a Fender from amazon. Comes with some basic stuff, $118 delivered. I'm not hoping for anything spectacular, just something she'll plink around. It's something my oldest has been asking for for a year. Getting it for her birthday.
