Ive been to mexico twice not on a bike mind you just on vacation. From What I saw In PV the people seemed Happy curteous, had new or decent cars and treated me better then alot of rude an disrespectful Americans who can even say Hello Or Thank you when you hold the door for them.I said to friend I was with after seeing this,I said man our governments feed us line after line of bs and propaganda,he agreed. Coming back in 09 we were sitting on the plane ready to leave PV mexico for TX for the layover.I said down here they call em drug lords up by us we call them drug dealers and gangs, and some one is probably robbing a bank or liqour store by us as we speak. When we got back to newark 1-2 am in the morning, friends sister and bf had told us a bank not 2 miles away from my house had been robbed by 4 suspects,1 was killed and the shooting went to new brunswick next city over.I hadnt known this had happened and when I had said that to them there jaw dropped.I actually felt safer in mexico then I have felt in places in NJ,Mexico is a cake walk per se compared to camden NJ.Ya could be gatted anywhere really and nice pics by the way;)

I know a guy who once spent a month in Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador, and got mugged leaving the airport in Baltimore when he got home.
You will never find a stairway to heaven in Baltimore! The lawyers won't allow such a thing.

Any time, you are going to love riding in Veracruz. Forget the coast highway #180, head for the hills!
And may the devil take the hind most!

You say that, but for those of us that worship the ocean the Costa Esmerelda and Tuxpam are magical.

Guys, I am planning to ride towards Laredo on Tuesday. I need to run through Carrizo Springs either going down or coming back, but otherwise I am pretty open for about 3 days. I want to spend about 1 day in Laredo drinking beer, watching Mexican TV at a bar, and generally making a fool out of myself (be nice ) but otherwise I want to spend about 2 days riding around the border on both sides (rt. 2 in Mexico and there is supposed to be a GS-capable dirt road from el Indio to Laredo on the US side).

I have been shooting the breeze with Trice and Bato but if anyone else wants to join in the entertainment then let me know.

I will warn folks that I ride slow and stop for plenty of tacos and photos, and the route is highly subject to change

SR, I think they inagurated the bridge last week, no? Calderon was there for something.
Anyhow, after you ride the highest bridge, c'mon over and ride the highest road in North America (arguably that is) which is the route up to the big telescope on Tlilteptl where the large millimeter telescope is located.

Take a look back a couple of pages for the photo with the two peaks (marked for Andres and Arte), the large millimeter telescope is the white dot on the left hand peak.
