to get the right answer, one must ask the right question

is mexico safe?

yes, every time i go, there it is in prety much the same condition.

are tourists safe in mexico?

i keep going back every year and here i am. i think what we are looking for is first hand accounts of whatever it is that some us think might happen in mexico.

the one thing i have never experienced or witnessed in mexico is road rage.

He refuses to go there any more, so I make the trip to TJ every 3-4 months.

I agree that going in the day is safest.
Please see post #594 of this thread. Read all the RR's listed and then tell us how
the real-life experiences of US citizens riding motorcycles throughout Mexico
are somehow less relevant than, "I worked with somebody who......"

How can Mexicans on this side of the border influence you more than US
citizens returning from the other side? I don't get that.

Oh, wait a minute! He said he has a friend who won't go to Mexico anymore. Forget it! I'm not going next month after all! Some guy on the internet has a friend who's scared so looks like that week in San Francisquito is off!
Let's rethink this for a moment: Assinine, moronic, fear-driven American re-
fuses to step foot in Mexico. How is this not a win-win?

We didn't get that far. She wanted to go back to the Hyatt, and I pointed out that might be a bit crowded since The Girlfriend was taking a nap in the room.

Bless her heart, she didn't skip a beat however and suggested that we could get another room.

MSN: Spring break safetySunburn is the least of your worries. Headlines about shootings in Mexico, rapes in Daytona Beach and other vacation violence are prompting students and parents to re-emphasize safety during the time-honored seasonal student migration.

Alcohol or drugs were factors in five of the six rapes reported during Daytona Beach's first week of spring break; half the victims were unconscious. Be vigilant about date-rape drugs -- always get your drinks directly from the bar.

LOOKS LIKE THEY DON'T KNOW THEY ARE ABOUT TO DIE...

WTF? Four of the Daytona rapes were behind the same restaurant?

Honestly, between the nonsense in Daytona and Jacksonville during the last week or so, I'm kinda glad that I moved to the RGV ... where it's safer.

Anyone want to go riding next weekend? I've got Friday off, and am debating whether to ride to Austin to hear some music or to explore down around La Pesca.

Not when SWMBO'd is in a bad mood. And that would have put her in a VERY bad mood.

Remember ... we are old people. Our idea of getting high is to overdose on the Metamucil ...

How far (miles/hours) to La Pesca from your WanderLodge?

I leave April 8th for Big Bend but just might fit in a quick run to the coast -
but only if you can guarantee me that it's perfectly safe!!
