I'm not really a lane splitter, but I did ride on the shoulder until the officials were in view. They were filtering all the traffic (trucks, trucks and more trucks) through something that was like a giant X-Ray machine. When it was my turn they told me to ride around the machine. Maybe it was all that aluminum Touratech shit!

I hit that purely by accident last April, as I probably told you in Durango. It was quite a sight, and driving the Espinosa del Diablo to Durango when everyone was heading home was exciting as well! I hope to see more women on their own bikes next time!

Quick question. When you are in Honduras, and you are forced to stay inside because back home in Texas, there is a Honduran being executed and the people are threatening you, what do you do?

Answer: Burn the yard trimmings.....

And for one more Honduras picture. Found this on a bench in the middle of nowhere:

Anyone want to comment? I was once told that folks steal them, so the prevailing attitude is "why bother."

Just for what it's worth, having a gringo arse and constitution, I can think of one (1) hotel that had a maintenance man get one just for me, and a bar/restaurant that I used to hit regularly who would casually motion for me to use the ladies room, which was MUCH nicer than the men's room.

I have been with gringos en Mexico that had pipes that were loud enough that when they passed between two buildings you could literally see the glass shake. To me that's not exactly being a good citizen, but that's just my opinion.

Don't remember hearing too many riders with really loud pipes on Mexican bikes, so this is fairly unusual.

There are lots of options Tod. A friend of mine, (aging gringo), rode solo through San Fernando recently without any incident. Personally I'd opt for any of the squiggly roads on the map. I can personally recommend rt 85 after passing Tamazunchale heading to DF, or through Xilitla/Jalpan de Serra/Pinal de Amoles, (Rt 37 I think). There are various wonderful permutations if you've got the time to get off the cuotas.

I miss "Snaketown" that stretch of rt 57 near the turnoff to Real de Catorce where the locals used to hang snake skins for sale, up on poles everywhere. I've been wondering if the Mexican gumint has forbidden that since 57 is such a corridor for tourists. No se.

That's my guess. When my dad started the plant that he is currently in, none of the toilets had seats. He told his secretary to order seats for all the toilets right away. She asked what kind, and he told her whatever she had in her house. She explained to him that most of the people there didn't have toilet seats at him due to cost. Having them stolen from public places sounds very likely.

Try going to a Harley rally in Mexico sometime. I know some Harley guys here that have two set of pipes, an open set that they use in Mexico and a baffled set they use when riding to US destinations. One guy I know can't start his bike without setting off nearby car alarms, try following that on the highway some time.

Regarding your use of a women's bathroom in a bar, I would imagine they are still talking about the gringo who uses the mujeres bano. A Mexican bar is probably the last place in the world where I would use a women's bathroom. But I see your point about them having a plastic gasket between the porcelain and the spark provider. LOL!
