Huevon

"Youth, money, and time. Isn't that just the trick! Huevones? or Huevotes? Maybe Pendejos?"

Chilean slang can be insult or between friends... like "che boludo" in Argentina. Don't know if it is used in Mexico.

I hope you're right, but I think it's going to be worse if the bike was running and if it took a splash.

We had to pull plugs on two bikes in the hinterland around Galeana. They both went down in rivers while running. On both of these we had to drain the cylinder. You'll need access to the plug and something to pull it with to do this.

Tilt the bike upright and let the water drain from the exhaust also. Take apart the air element too. Don't disregard the weep hole in the cylinder too.

Wayland's bike:

Milton's bike:

If you listen to the chatter on this second video, Milton didn't have the tools to extract his spark plug. We had to scrounge to find them. Between 2 or 3 other riders we found what we needed.

Restarting a wet bike is a true skill that can be done in the field with the proper tools. Like flat repair, it's best to learn this skill in the garage and not on the trail for the first time.

I would have to be the first to admit that I have no idea how to even begin to get a drowned, fuel injected KTM up and running again nor do I currently have the tools to do it.

Fortunately, I know someone in Kyle, Texas who can teach this.

Richard took this photo of me going the long way down river:

At the time that photo was taken, I didn't have the tools to pull the plug on the KLR either

PJ,
The Boquillas crossing info is good. Of course they still don't have a real date and there is no info about any kind of boat. Being only one year behind schedule is probably a new speed record for the Feds.

Also thought this was interesting :
