My moto is alive!

And running well! The parts arrived today and we installed them correctly. No problems during warm up like I have recently described. Just returned from a 2.5 hour ride with no problems. Will be headed to El Salvador tomorrow.

I think it's due west of the Applebee's. The Applebee's is in a shopping center that's actually pretty upscale, and across the street from a Honda auto dealer. I think that if you exit from the shopping center and drive down the road next to the Honda dealer that you will run into Boys Town.

My one experience there was honestly running into it by sheer dumb "luck" one night when I was out looking for a bar and wanting a break from the Applebee's. I saw a bar behind a wall and realized where I was when I drove up to the police checkpoint.

I have heard that Laredo's Boys Town was getting dicey late at night, and that members of a certain cartel were regularly partying there. So the word was to get out before 10PM.

Bridge #1 can back up. Avoid the 8AM and 5PM time frames.

In Laredo just go ahead and ride around everyone and go to the front of the line. If you don't sooner or later someone will tell you to go ahead because they expect motos and bicycles to go to the front.

Be careful at the toll booth on the Mexican side because they can be really, really oily. Not a good place for quick acceleration or a slip with the boots when you get on and off.

When you cross into Mexico you will get stopped by a red or green light. They will signal that you can go ahead (green light) or they want to inspect you (red light and a really loud siren). If you get the red light don't panic - it's 99% random. Just don't carry a gun or dope and you will be fine.

When I crossed into Piedras Negras a few days ago the light didn't go off but the guy with a rifle waved me over. I parked, the military (not customs) inspected my stuff.

They seemed bored as hell.

The last time the military went through my stuff they were very thorough but were very, very nice about putting everything back where it was, including my tool roll.

Is Mexico ;)
