Mexico noob needs recommendations

Hi Guys,
I got today my TVIP and will go to Mexico this friday. The staff at the aduana was very friendly and helpful, since my spanish is way worse than my english.
I thought they will take my credit card for the deposit but wont't charge it immediately. But I was wrong.
But the first crossing was positive.
We will start our short tour on friday and we will go to Chihuahua and spent the first night there and after that we will go to creel.
I would really appreciate if someone could recommend a place to stay at this two first stops.

Thanks.

Btw. I am lurking since quite a while and enjoy this Forum very much and this is because of the people who write their thoughts, experience and funny stories in an polite manner.

Hi, Tomcat9!

I hope your trip is half as awesome as my own trip in January. Spent the most incredible two weeks running all over Mexico. Pay attention to the topes!!!

Hola Tom,

In Creel I stayed at the Villa Santa Cruz on the east side of the tracks just south of the baseball field. Cheap and clean with secure parking.

Jimmex is right about Tury. Try contacting him.

Enjoy Copper Canyon!

Mismaloya to Acaponeta

A little over 200 miles of nice riding on a mix of cuota (2 lane) and libre. The approach to Tepic was a nice surprise...hilly, windy, through farm and ranch country. Acaponeta is not much...at 360 pesos/night the QuintaBlanca Hotel, which looks nice from outside and probably once was, is no deal. Ceiling fan has only high speed...no temp control on AC...full blast only. Since I have been on the West Coast, for several weeks now, there seems to be less military and police presence here than in the center or east coast.

What the others said about Tury, he can help you out.

We usually stay at the Maria Dolores in Chihuahua

In Creel, we stayed at Margaritas this year. Very nice comfortable rooms. B'fast & Dinner included in the price

Have Fun in Mexico!

Highway 200 North into Tepic is one of my favorite stretches of road. Beautiful countryside, nice sweeping turns (without being too technical) and tree canopy for shade. I really enjoyed Xalisco and Tepic areas. Ride safe.

Tury set me up at the Maria Dolores in Chihuahua. Right in the center of town but can be bit hard to find because of the one-way streets. I asked a cop and he led me to it. In Creel, I stayed at the Guest House Margarita. A bit cheaper than the main Hotel Margarita, but don't miss the included breakfast and dinner. Makes it a bargain.

Is Mexico Safe?

Somehow I don't think number 10 on the Boquillas poster sounds quite right. lol
