Rescued from the dump

So I'm at the dump today unloading a bunch of yard waste and a guy pulls up next to me with a trailer and an old dirt bike in the back. I ask him what it is and he says it's a 1968 Rokon 360. All the parts are there and it's straight so I asked him why he's dumping it. He said it ran last year but it doesn't have any spark now, he can't get parts and he's tired of messing with it. Well, the bike went home with me.

After doing about a half hours research on this thing, it turns out it's a Rokon Automatic RT340 Enduro of unknown vintage, but I'm thinking mid-70's. It has a pull start, centrifigal clutch Sachs engine...basically a big 'ol snowmobile motor. Disk brakes front and back, headlight and taillight.

So does anyone here know anything else about these bikes? Looks like some guys are racing them in vintage MX events. I can imagine that it'll be a handful to ride.

There was a recall on 'um due to an O-ring problem in the final drive and they tend to surge.

Post the pic on the web, like in a SmugMug account, then link to it. That's what all the cool dudes do.

Thumb It's a Keeper

Very cool, VERy VerY collectable...There are Rokon Clubs that prize these things like Platinum and WiLL not part with even broken odd parts. Hardcore collectors in that group...
