Couldn't afford a 'GSA', so now it's an 'XSA' "I didn't do it! & whoever said I did, is a liar!"

Andreas, like Greg, I remember reading about your trip in Two Wheels.
Later I sold my 75/6 and bought one of the first Pari Daker replica's.

My shed wall had pics of Gaston Rahnier on his original, pics of my Pari Dakar and a couple of pics from the Two Wheels article of your ride.

Thanks for taking the time to scan the photo's and post.
A legendary trip indeed.

Now. . . Bear tells me you have a Video of the trip. Has it been transferred to DVD yet. ?

regards
Andrew Linton.

Wow, thanks for the positive feedback everybody. Fred and I learnt a lot from that trip. We made mistakes in various aspects of machinery preparation and so forth but it helped for future rides. The next year we did a Steep Point to Byron Bay crossing via the Simpson and after that Fred began racing in the Wynn's/Australian Safari for five consecutive years. His experiences in outback riding proved invaluable for success in those events.
I took a Super 8 movie camera (no sound) on the CSR trip and recently found the film after having lost it for about 25 years! It has now been digitised so I have some motion vision that can be viewed on 21st century equipment.
I must say it really gives me a bit of a warm fuzzy feeling when people say that ride was an inspiration to them. Only a few things in life are better than a bloody good motorcycle adventure ride.
Thanks,
Andreas

How about posting some of the digitised film. We'd love to see it!

Excellent story, "A", You Powell boys are a force. Thanks for posting.

One question, why did you decide to send Fred for gas instead of going yourself?

Great Ride Report!

Thanks for bringing your past into the present.

I too, would love to see the digitized film. Maybe post it on YouTube or one of the other video sites?

Thanks for the words and pics, one of the best ride reports I've had the pleasure to read. Five thumbs up from me.
