Transfagarasan road
Ceaucescu's paranoia got worst after the Soviets invaded Chehoslowakia and Hungary. So he came up with a briliant idea: lets build a road for our troops in order to move faster should the Soviets decide to invade Romania. Some 40 dead workers, 6 millions of dynamite and 3.8 cubic metres of blasted rock later the road was finished and the romanian army got a brand new road they could use during summer months. The rest of the year the road was closed due to it's high elevation (the pass is at 2034 meters / 6673 feet). Today, 40 years later, the Transfagarasan road is The road for bikes and not tanks. Move over Rover...  ... and let Jimmy take over.

Down the south side we hit a long and bad gravel road full of holes wich brought us through this tunnel...
 ... but finaly we get back to the tarmac at the Transfagarasan dam.

Rain caught us after the Dam. We rode just pass the (in)famous Dracula castle in Bran (history says Dracula slept here only for one night) and ended up in Brasov.
   Ride the whole day through beautyful nature and then stay in gorgeus old cities. Could it be any better?
