Glad the cradle is holding up - you are one of my first customers. I owe you a meal and a beer on the trail, at least! (Probably should change your first flat for you as well, for good measure - when we get to ride some good Nevada dirt at some point down the line!)

Thanks for all Tom. Good man.....

Give me more lead time and maybe it will happen. Not sure about 2011. We are doing a road trip up (truck) to Alaska next summer.

Merry Christmas ADVRiders...

The Aussie Group-Buy cradles are done, but not shipped. I have been in touch with Leith, but no finality from Oz as of this writing, so I post this update to those folks - your cradles are done. I'll be in a position to ship again on Tuesday after Christmas, 12/28 once I get back into town. I wanted them out to you long before now, and busted my zorch getting them completed.... but I need a wire transfer from Leith.

I haven't forgotten any of you, and my thanks to all who have sent me such interesting and kind correspondences! You make a guy wanna go to Australia! Someday.....

Meanwhile, all other orders have shipped.

Merry Christmas to all - Rally on.

Stovey should win Small Business of The Year Award

This is a post not on the actual cradle itself, but on the lenghts to which Stovey will go to make sure his customers are treated right. I am posting it here, in this thread, so everyone can see and read it. Get your vomit bucket ready, because it is pretty glowing.

I am part of the group buy from Australia which turned out to be a bit of the enigma-deal of 2010. But hey, we're special down here. I'm sure she'll be right in the end, and my cradle is now somewhere en route to Melbourne. But the whole process has been a good one because of the outstanding communications by Stovey, keeping everyone in the loop on an individual and thread-posted basis.

Others have already reported about the bullet-proofness of the actual cradle. I think that moniker should apply to his reputation as a businessman. Top bloke.

Many thanks from Oz

I can definitely second Jelkie's endorsement of Stovey. I was also part of the Oz group buy and have been truly impressed at the lengths Stovey has gone to in his communication with us and the delivery of the product (mine arrived today ). I have no doubt the cradle will live up to the service he has shown. Great work!

Aussie Group Buy Wrap Up..... Thanks to LEITH HAWKINS!

Aussie buyers,

Leith has sent in payment and I have been taken care of. If any of you on the list from the group buy have either

1) Not received your cradle

and/or

2) Not sent payment in to LEITH directly

Please notify me in the case of not getting your cradle or, send payment in to LEITH directly if you were on the list, ordered one, and have not yet paid him.

All future orders from OZ please get with me directly and thanks to LEITH for all his help in getting my cradles introduced to Australia. Thanks to my customers for ordering them!

If you like them, tell others. If you don't, tell them too, and please also tell me so I can fix any problems you might encounter.

Good luck and God's Speed to everybody so affected by the flooding disasters now occurring in Queensland.

Sincerely,

Stovey

Considered expanding your line to include other gps's? Like say the 76Csx?

Hi Captain Ron!

I have indeed considered expanding the line to include the 62-series (next up) and would love to add the 76 as well. Unfortunately, time has conspired to keep me off-track and the ability to access dummy units has also been a stymie. Unless and until a customer provides me with a unit of their own for me to do the tooling, I remain at Garmin's mercy and have to rely upon stumbling over a unit to use for my casting and molding process to tool up.

I've done this with the 78-series, BOBZILLA graciously sending me his brand new in the box 78 marine handheld for me to work with while I did up a couple for him and his buddy. I admit to not having a close look at the form factor of the 76 though, so I don't know how viable a candidate it would be for me to work up the kind of cradle I would need to in order to sell them. I can't do one-off's - too expensive. But I'll take a look at the 76 so I might learn something from it, and see if it might be a viable GPS for me to even consider tooling up for. If so, I might welcome a customer unit to tool from (causes no harm to GPS in that case, FYI.)

I thank you for the interest and the inquiry, and I apologize for not having one for you just yet.

I'll shoot you a PM if it's even a possibility for me to build one.

Thanks!

Stovey

Shipping until surgery.... then.....

All current orders processed and mailed out - thank you guys!

I'm having hand surgery in a few days and will be down and out for weeks and weeks. (Carpal both sides and SL wrist reconstruction.) So, I'll be relying on my inventory on hand until I run out and/or return to work on making these in a couple months. Hopefully, I'll have a two month supply here, I dunno. They've been selling pretty well.

So, by way of a heads-up, the week of 3/2 - 3/9 or thereabouts, I will not have any use of my hands to even work at the computer to respond to PM's and e-mails. So, if you shoot me a line, I'm not ignoring you - I'm an invalid. Umkay?

I'll be able to pack and mail things shortly, and respond via PM and e-mail.

Nope, I still can't offer tiered pricing for dealers and resellers - I apologize. Just a one-man operation trying to make a living.

Can mail cradles until Tuesday 3/1 - then "off" for a week.

Thanks to all for talking with me about these things and your rides and bikes and plans. And for buying my cradles and the encouragement. I hope to salvage my summer with the surgery and be able to ride. Pre-op meeting yesterday with surgeon and he said I won't know for sure what the final outcome is until after 3 months and physical therapy. Keeping my chin up and hoping for the best! "Never Give Up."

Hang in there Stovey. I had both knees replaced a few years ago. Quite the experience. I'm holding off as long as I can on the CT work for my wrists. This tingling is really getting to be a PITA. I guess you know about that.
My thoughts will be with you.

Cradles in stock - I'm offline until?

Thank You Tom!

Hand surgery is tomorrow - I'm down for the count. Will resurface on the thread when I figure out how to get onto a keyboard without use of my hands.

All cradle orders I have are shipped and I'm current as of this post. I have cradles made to ship, but won't be able to correspond for a short bit - I'm not ignoring you as I collect PM's here and e-mails. Will respond to all by mid-March I hope.

Thanks for all, everybody!

Thanks Dad2Bike....

Stovebolt for President!
Stovey got my cradle to me very quickly as he promised! Despite shipping problems, I still had my cradle before I left on a d/s trip to Death Valley!
He shipped it before I paid the next day air fee as one of the shippers messed up! He is the stand up guy of the year in my estimation!
Any other "company" would not have gotten the products to me before the trip! In fact two other companies said they had their products in stock and would ship, low and behold, not in stock and not shipped, had to make a custom part locally!
Get well soon, Stovey! sorry to hear about it!

Wow, thanks!

It's times like this when I really appreciate all the opportunities I've had to get with fellow riders, on and off the forums. Faced with some challenge from the hands and the income loss that goes along with it, and all the uncertainty... there seems like only one thing to do.....

....thank my stars for all I DO have, and never mind about temporary setbacks.

That, and send a check to Chris MacAskill in support of ADVrider. So, $75 to Baldy with my appreciation.

Tom (Dad2bike) and Thomas (Pigpen) - your support is much appreciated! Beer is on me, you just have to open the bottle.....
