Anybody have a spot tracker I can borrow for when I do Vegas to Reno? I have one which I will be carrying with me but the plan is I would like to have one more in the support van. I have someone who will be watching and sending text messages to my father in the van about where I am. Would be helpful for him to be able to see where the van is.

We can do it with just the one spot and a good map of the pit locations but this makes it a bit eaisier.

I am leaving next friday and will be gone for a little over 2 weeks (visiting family for a while on this trip).

Spent a little quality time with SpawnOfEC this weekend. Today we finally got out on the bikes.

We didn't go far. Just up the road is a section of Class VI road. Good place to start as it has quite a variety of terrain in a short span. Just enough rain yesterday to get things a little muddy.

Her first bit of unmaintained dirt.

She did great!

The camera never seems to capture the steepness. Not a hill climb but not as flat as it appears, either.

The first 30 seconds or so (sorry, still can't edit GoPro footage) of this one will give you a better idea of how some of the more technical sections were.

This is her second time through here. 3rd mile or so of 'off road' riding. First pass she picked a line up through the rocks on the far right of 0:34. Decided she didn't like that plan. Like her father, "if there's a bad line...

She quickly bored of that stretch so we ventured off. She had her first get off. Just a quick stop into a boulder. Goes with the territory. No harm. Think the repetitiveness of the first section was making more sense afterwards, though.

Made it back home unscathed and had some lunch. Good time with her.

I didn't see any hesitation through those clips. Just possibly that's due to the instructor.

Good to see the XT helping a young'un!

Excellent. Now you'll need to show her how to bolt all kinds of expensive doodads to her bike and ride standing on the pegs...

Noob dirt rider thinking of Hop-Ev tomorrow -- for the first time. Is there a difficulty rating for the trails? I want to start on the easiest one.

If you FFs send me down the highway to hell, I'll cut you out of my will.

There's one - Stark Pond, I think that is a good one to start. Hang Glider may be the other one that is a step or two up. There are also the roads.

The River Loop is a great challenge but I wouldn't go there alone just yet.

They sometimes have maps there. This one may help. 'Ctrl +' makes it almost legible.

In about 3-4 weeks we should make plans for a ride. Can't do it before then. Sorry.
