I can help, shoot me a pm explaining the problem you are having. I can take mine apart this weekend and shoot a pic of how it is assembled.

Thanks for all the offers. I took XDrag's suggestion and checked the fiche online. Managed to get the throttle re-assembled. It was the weird white plastic dealie in there that was throwing me off

Stopped by BUA today to say 'bye to George; doubt if I'll have any more work for him before we leave for the Pacific Northwet at the end of the month. We were shooting the breeze about a number of things (including his new expanded shop space) and the talk turned to putting a larger alternator on my /5 "Great White" at some point--the stock alternator put out about 180 watts when new, with new wiring, etc. I mentioned that I'd think of doing that some time, and wondered who might have a later model front engine cover with cooling slots--bigger alternators put out substantially more heat and the /5 front cover is solid--no vents.

So George pulls out a ladder, climbs to one particular bin stored on his upper shelves, pulls out a /7 cover, and gives it to me. Just like that. Refuses payment,, says I've been a good customer.

Wow. I would have expected to pay up to maybe $100 for a part like that-even if it does need bead-blasting. What a guy.

All I can say is--guys like that are a critical valuable resource for local riders. All you beemer guys, and all you folks who might need tire changes, all I gotta say is "go to George." Take care of him, and he'll take care of us!

Took a stubborn wheel/tire there recently - he got right on it and did a super job!

ORexpat - is it time for you to go already? Congratulations - I'm sure you are more than ready to move back to the great pacific "northwet" - that is the far side of the country.

Anyone have any suggestions for a reasonably scenic ride down to Charlottesville from the Warrenton area? Want to hit Clark Brothers in the morning and then C'Ville for lunch. Straight down 29 is just too dull on the KLR

George is a first class guy. when the ABS on my K bike took a crap, he diagnosed it and referred me to Morton's. Didnt charge me for his time and i think he spent a fair amount on it. He also met me at his shop on a Sunday when i needed a clutch lever after dropping my bike for the umpteenth time. you dont find people like that very often.

Depends on how much time you have and if you want to hit any gravel. This is a sedate balance of 29 to Culpepper then backroads the remainder. If you haven't been to The Exchange BBQ in Gordonsville, I'd recommend it

Some pics of the area.
This is at Barboursville

Rapidan Rd

Farmers doing Farm Things:

Ye Olde Rapidan Mill

If you do have more time you can check out some of the great roads west of 29
