I got three bids 2 years ago and went with Nash Construction from down in Fredericksburg. They weren't the cheapest but they gave more value for the buck out of the three. I'm happy with the job they did.

Why in the world would you think a roofing company would have ladders?

You may want to skip them all together. I used to know a good roofer but lost track of him years ago so I can't help you in that regards.
I hope there was nothing damaged by the water.

I know what you mean! They asked me how many stories the house has. I told them it is a two story rowhouse. Apparently, they only send out one ladder on their estimators' trucks. I guess that one ladder does not adjust either.

RUCKING FOOFERS!!!

Right now, it is just patching and painting what I painted 3 years ago. I am thinking if it takes too long to get the roof fixed, we will shower in the dining room on the rainy days. Unfortunately, the yellow cat litter buckets don't quite match our other furniture. Hmm... maybe I need an interior decorator instead.

You aren't crazy, your co-workers are dull

I left messages with Star and Nash.

I hope somebody calls me back.

Thanks for the referrals!

I did my own roof a few years ago. I have a compressor and a roofing gun, if you want to give it a go... It doesn't leak either!

I had thought of that.

Unfortunately, I don't have the right size ladder to get up on the roof.

Thanks for the offer! If I had known, I would have gotten it for Shiner Roofing. It was their estimator that does not have a ladder to get on my roof. (A 32' ladder is all that is needed.)

This is too big a job for me anyway. I don't know anything about roofing and way too much of a learning process to risk my home and life on.

I don't mind spending the money. I just want to get opinions from professional roofers before committing. Call me fussy but having a ladder to get up on the roof is one characteristic I would like in a roofer.

Riteris, best of luck on getting your roof done. It is truly easier to have someone else do it. Otherwise, it is a very manual job.

My roof is flat metal standing seam typical of DC row houses and far as I can tell the original from 1907. I have acces through a skylight so DIY maintenance much easier.
