Maybe, depends upon timing and all.
What and where did you have in mind?

Hmmmm. I wonder if they'll have a Versys for me to fondle?

Heck, give Angel a call; I'll probably drop by there Friday afternoon and see if they need any help. Usually not, I just show up, eat their food, drink their soda, and ride their motorcycles.

I didn't look to see if they had a Versys in stock last weekend. They've had Versys demo's on other open house days.

Do you already have the bike and is it already titled somewhere? VA is better than some states but still tricky.

If you ask nicely, I'll let you fondle mine.

No and I'm thinking about alternatives to the Husky TE that isn't coming my way. XR650R, CRF450, etc.

From 1998, but I'm sure it hasn't changed - here

Or get in touch with the guys at Dual Sport Armory - I'm sure they'll be able to help you out and they're local.

Thanks

Yeah I really need to order the remaining parts to put that engine back together. This one is *mostly* the hillclimb bike (frame, susp, wheels) the rest is a mix and batch of what was sitting close (since I have doubles or triples of all the parts)

I picked up another VA titled SXF frame the other day so i'm using that as the basis for my D/S build.

"Honey, I'll be gone for a bit. I'm going to go fondle Motocox' Versys"

That sounds like a euphemism for a rest stop liaison if I ever heard one!

A little Butters on Motocox' Versys will make for a slippery ride......

I'll be there too also helping out so long as I don't have to work. Last year they demo'd the versys, SM510 and a few other bikes (that must not have interested me - probably cruisers ) Mrs. BikePilot (aka Pilette) will be there all day - she's the new financing person at MFI, but for the open house I imagine she'll be doing whatever needs done. Say hi if ya see her :)

As for plating a dirt bike in VA, bolting on the necessary equipment is easy, getting a street title is nearly impossible in VA. Basically the first owner of the bike has to title it in his/her name and ever subsequent owner of record must title it in their names (remember, VA gets its taxes when its re-titled, so they are strict about this). If you aren't the original owner and the prior owners didn't title it you are SOL as far as I'm aware. Its entirely possible there's some work-around I'm unaware of though. This is why plated dirt bikes tend to command a serious price premium over non-plated ones around here.

So far i've found it easiest/cheapest to just buy a titled frame, and then swap everything over.

I remember seeing a thread on here about a year ago of a guy in VA who got a used bike, put a dual sport kit on, had a DMV inspector come over and check it out and got a title that way. Think it was a honda. But since it wasn't displaying the true odometer reading the title was different. I don't think it was a salvage title...maybe a custom built vehicle...or something like that. The new title said it was a custom, not even a Honda anymore!
The search function seems to not be working right now. I thought I saw the thread in Thumpers but can't be sure now.
If I run across it I'll post a link.
