This is a fun ride. Mostly single track on nice loamy/sandy soil. I'll be there on the 450 pumpkin.

so we can have the trails to ourselves.

It is a fun event and usually has trails with a range of difficulty. It can have the loamy/sandy soil IF the rainy weather doesn't change that. Last year it was just wet enough to make some of the hill climbs and off-camber side hills .......challenging(?). NVTR puts on a really nice event.

Sadly, all the tires I ordered didn't arrive at the same time. If they had the girls could have taken the picture standing up.

I might ride down on the big XR (or trailer it to save the knobbies...) - its still setup for desert - any 105mph straights or 50-mile-long whoop sections? Gotta go see if it'll start, been sitting since last summer. If it doesn't maybe the wife's KX100 will be up for it.

I actually worked as a course marshal for a nvtr (or vchss??) harescramble at egal bay once. Some of their folks called me and said they were desperate for marshals and that they'd work it so I could ride there for free for a bit a different weekend. Worked my butt off all day in 100 degree heat and then they "forgot" they ever offered anything in return. Bastiges.

My favorite east-coast event was the blue-gray harescrambles at budd's a decade ago. Haven't done an organized east-coast event since I think.

So I don't think I need that info on plating a dirt bike for the first time. Spoke to the 'PO' of 'my' Husky. Deal's still on.

So... as soon as he gets it running (transplanting a SMR450 engine into a TE250 chassis) I get a bitchin Husky. I'll keep ya updated. I wanna ride!

Grats on the Husky

I just came in from the garage. XR650R and wife's KX100 fully operational for tomorrow (she may have to work though).

So, who wantsta be the first one to buy this cool lil XR250L?

Hmm, maybe I should actually advertise it somewhere . . . . I suppose that might speed things up.

Titled, tagged, RTR (Ready To ride).

Seriously. How much?

I'm selling my '95 Nighthawk and will need to replace it with something, right?

Needs a chain and the correct forks back on it, but other than that it's ready to ride.

Dupe post--too nice a day not to ride.

Also stuck on the Catherder's thread . . . . .

Out through horse country south of Middleburg. Just to take some photos.

Bust Head Road--most of you know it.

NOVA tag site from last year on Bust Head, by the RR tracks.

Old stone fence along Bull Run Mountain Road. Saw several of these "fence on a fence" arrangements today.

Rock Hill Mill Road, was tootling on by and almost missed this gem.

Sweet Daffodil there . . .

Through the door . . . .

A little further on, along Burrland Road. The silo looks like tile, but it's probably rusty metal. Fantastic texture and color.

Playing with color accent feature in the camera. Blue, obviously . . . .

Poison Ivy, anyone?

Onward. Carter's Mill Road. Suspect the road is very old; dug or worn down between two cutbanks, almost like a "sunken road."

Brunhilda was heading back to the barn along VA 55 when she decided to visit Chapman's Mill, in Thoroughfare Gap. The mill was the site of the Battle of Thoroughfare Gap during the run-up to Second Manassas. Changed hands several times and was destroyed. Rebuild after the war and operational for years. Victim of arson towards the end of the last century, its been stabilized. Easy to see from the freeway, looks like nice hiking on the conservancy property too.

The store.

Mill behind.

Another mill shot

A ruined building on the other side of the railroad tracks. Might hafta check this out sometime.

Very nice shots, pays to slow down sometime and really see what we're normally blasting though. (within posted speeds of course,,,)
