Not sure. I know 2013 990 smt will be released. But from what I'm reading. Adventure will come out with 1190. After that not sure if they will make smt in 1190.

test ride
I am in central Illinois, looking to test ride an SMT. I test rode a Multistrada in St. Louis and loved it, I'm hoping I love the simpler and cheaper SMT just as much! Does anyone know where one can be test ridden? I can't seem to find one.

I actually haven't ridden with the mods yet Desmo. I'm looking forward to the roar of the filter though. I've done similar mods on other bikes and the air box hasn't bothered me. You are the second one to mention it though, so we will see...

This will be my first photos in this thread. I'll use decent size ones so the details can be seen.
I started my mods withe the ergos. I'm tall and I need a bit of room. I started with some SW foot pegs. IIRC, they're 20mm lower. (About 3/4" for those using the archaic measuring system. I mean really, is your calendar based on lunar cycles too? ) I forgot to get a couple before pics - but if you already have an SMT you'll have a good idea. ![]() ![]() ![]() I had some 50mm/2" ROX anti vibe risers on my shelf as well. They went on next. The cables were long enough although I had to remove the little plastic cover around the key tumbler. ![]() ![]() I bought the bike at a dealership. I got them down to a reasonable price (for Canada) and then bartered in a KTM tank bag. I'm not normally one for brand specific gear but this bag is well made and fits the funny SMT tank. ![]() A common complaint with larger tank bags is that they need to come off when fuelling. Not the case with this bag. Getting the cap off the first few times is awkward however: I'm not a fan of how the straps wrap around the seat. It's not noticeable through riding pants though. The bike came with the higher touring windscreen. I like it. ![]() There are some other neat mods that I'd like to do. Exhaust might be a start. I'd really like a steering stabilizer and I've heard that a rekluse style clutch 'is da bomb!' on the LC8 motors. If anyone has something to share about these mods or a link I should see... ![]() j |

Nice
![]() Be careful with that tank bag, the matt black looks cool but it is a pita to keep it like that. The rubbing of the harnas will make the tank shiny, so use some protective foil on the tank. |

Can anyone give me a heads up on the model year this gloss black was available? And is it paint, or decal? Curious if the bubbling of the decals I experienced on my 950SM would be an issue here as well....

The black one is a 2011 or 2012 model.
