Lower sear height for an airhead

I have a '75 r90/6 and I am a bit on the shorter side (5'7") and am wondering if there is any way to lower the seat height. Googling got me nowhere. Is there anything that can be done? Thanks for the info.

No first hand experience as I am on the tall side, but here a couple of ideas (monetary aspects excluded):

- reduce seat height by removing foam from seat, that could gain a couple of inches
- shorten front and rear shock by say 2in, the 90/6 is a street bike after all, so ground clearance shouldn't be an issue

Both measures together should reduce your seat height to fit your not-so-long legs.

The Corbin Gunfighter seat looks lower than a stock seat. I don't have any experience with them, but you might consider it as an option.

I am 5'7" and after riding my friend's /5, felt that I would want a lower seat... so when I got my /6, I did a custom seat but used the BMW pan: cut it down in width and cut down the foam thickness.

Now, when I ride his /5 after riding mine, I still feel a bit "off-the-ground" since my /6 is so comfortable.

I can easily flat foot both feet now... the bike is in the thread in my sigline.

When I bought my R80 ST it came with the orignal seat (tall like most BMW bench seats) and a near new Corbin. The Corbin was cut very low in the front position with the pillion half normal height. I only have about 30.5" inseams, but the Corbin was low enough to cause knee pains from the excessive knee bend required and I sold it. Other than that it was way more comfy on the butt than the stocker.

So, as mentioned above, take a look at cutting down and recovereing your stock seat. or having it done by someone with a good rep like Don Weber of Mr Ed's Moto in Oregon, or check out a Corbin offering.

I removed the stock seat on my R60/5 and installed a tractor style seat (forget the name of this, but they were sold for beemers) that mounted in the center tube that ran under the gas tank. The gives a much narrower area at the front and enough rebound to be very comfortable, whether moving forward or backward, thus providing a more manageable height (I'm 5'6 with a 31" inseam). It's not that the R60/5 stock seat was too high (nor is the R90S stock seat), I needed to recover space for a rack for long distance traveling; but the improved maneuverability was appreciated. It became much easier to back up.

I have a streettracker seat on my R65 mono,it is the same height as the stock seat,but narrower at the front,which means it is easier to touch the ground at a stop.I can also move around on it much more than the stock seat - forward for twisty stuff,back for straight roads.

I am 5'6" 29" inseam and my belief is that flat footing is overrated. R100 with Corbin /7 Canyon Dual Sport allows only tip toes.
