Arkansas Ride Reports - Page 447

Not really a Ride Report but........

Martha had the day off yesterday so we went for a drive on the Talimena Parkway. It was our first time there and though it was cloudy, rainy and foggy we still managed to enjoy it. The pictures below were an exercise in grey but some of them turned out well.

We also had the pleasure of capping our day off with Joe Nuke and Kimberly, They invited us to their home in Ft. Smith for a wonderful steak dinner and drinks. It was a fun evening.

There used to be a good-sized lake there, until the dam broke from lack of maintenance. It was on the AR/OK line, and both states couldn't agree to spend money on it.

My Dad and Uncle Art used to fish for catfish at night from a flat-bottom boat there. They always had a Mason Jar with them.....but no cervesa.

The "Mason Jar" was for back pain. At least that's what my Dad and Uncle told me. I never did see them rub that liquid on their backs though.

We left Crested Butte Sat morning just as the storm came in. They have gotten 18 in since then... Trying to decide if we were lucky or not??

I am getting quite an education on this thread. Thanks for the correcting that spelling error. Cerveza is spanish for beer. I didn't know that.

Good to know. Thanks for the history. I guess the spillway was the dam that broke Ay! Thats why it is not a lake anymore.

I am glad that Colorado is getting some snow this year. They sure needed it. I guess the last couple of years the snowfall has been way down.

Charlie, the picture were cool of the Talihina area. Have been on a ton of great trails down there and don't think I've scratched the surface. I plan to make several over nights down there this year.
