+1

I rode some of the passes last year and did not re-jet my bike and I was at 13000 ft over some of the passes. The bike still ran ok but I did notice a power loss and running rich. Take the time to re-jet the carb. What does it take, about an hour tops.

Fabulous Story!

I just discovered this story tonight and have remained riveted to it until completion. I rode a Suzuki DL650 V Strom two up with my better half last summer all around all of the paved roads surrounding the San Juans. Also, took a little 10 mile or so side trip up some mining roads above Creed. That was pretty exciting two up. Great thread, please keep it up!

Black Bear...

Can't wait for the Black Bear details... looks like it should be renamed "Sphincter Pass". Definitely not for those with vertigo issues.

Ok for you Colorado guys. Planning on coming out in August and need to know where and what to ride. I have a KTM 250xcf-w and a BMW R1200GS. I was thinking of buying a little KLX 250S for the ride or making the KTM street legal. We are wanting to ride some medium style roads to get used to the mountains then progress as we get familiar with the mountains. Don't want to ride expert trails. Are these just roads that are narrow or are they single track technical trails. We are wanting to see the scenery from a different perspective then riding the paved roads (eventhough they are great). Please let me know what to expect on roads and the type bike that would work best. I appreciate any input.

Thanks

Sorry for the delay.. the weather got nice and I've been busy burning the rear tire off the 950 (rode it 3K miles last month - looks like it could be a good summer!)

That and work has been busy
It is supposed to be crappy this weekend.. I'll post more then.

Next week I'm off to camp in Dinosaur National Monument in far North West Colorado. Possibly one of Colorado's best kept secrets and becoming one of my favorite places to "get away from it all" - there's NOBODY out there.

Hi guys, I recently discovered this post and am really getting a kick out of it.

I grew up riding in Colorado, mostly in Boulder County and have many good memories of riding in places like Motorcycle Park, Apex, Gilpin, Rollins Pass, Saint Marys Glacier, Caribou, Ward, Jamestown. I never got to ride Southwestern Colorado as much as I would have wanted to but I am enjoying the photos from that area so keep em coming.

Saludos
