Thanks!!
Well, it won't keep up with a 55 hp CRF450!!
It ran decent. I really don't have anything to gauge it against since I haven't really done any competitive riding in over 35 years.
The Dunlop K180 dirt track specific tires really impressed me!!
Had I been on Pirelli MT53's or something from the mid '70s, I would have gone on my head. The tires were amazing and would have held if I pushed them even harder.
The suspension is stock and really limits what I could do. If I had cut the steering head and pulled the forks back to about 25 degrees and shortened the forks or pulled them up in the triple clamps, it would have handled better.
Since this was pretty much a "Bucket List" deal, I figured I'd just ride it this way once and park it.
It'll go to Caldwell ID in the Spring for the vintage show and then to Willow for the AHRMA races/show in April.
It'll make a neat pit bike!!

So.... If the metal smith gets my new steelshoe done, I'm going to try the new 1/4 mile cushion track that Diamond A Motorsports has been racing on in Airway Heights since the snow has gone away.

Hi "BugSister", IF the steelshoe gets done this week, I'll be riding this weekend. The 11th of June at the track in Airway Heights. Call this morning and they were working on the shoe... Just not done yet.
I'll keep you posted.

I think you should do a road trip and go here: http://www.siegecraftnw.com/PDX11-preview.htm to race with OregonCoast and LC Garage. Rainbow007 and I are going to do a road trip on our BMWs to watch them. If you were there too it could be a threefer for us. OK maybe that's a bit far for you to go race but I thought I'd try.

I'll get out to watch you race again I'm sure.

Good luck.

ah man i was waiting to see more pics of some race action...you could always make one..but your probably out of time now and having hard facing rod would be a plus.

i raced my first two races one a 1/8th mile with no shoe...but once you ride with one its hard to ride with out it

The metal fab guy found some tungsten/carbide rod, but hasn't gotten far enough to apply any. He wasn't real confident he could get it right....
Hell, it can't be any more difficult than soldering but on a larger scale

the first shoe i made was a pain in the ass. and i learned laying down nice smooth hard facing is hard...best left to the professionals.

I had a maley shoe but that is long gone and all i have left is my old messed up home made job...but I am helping out a local promoter fill the field this coming saturday with my " junkyard special" 250 (ride report to fallow sunday). I plan on making a new shoe this week with the one rod of hard facing i have left

Way Cool!! Sad that I couldn't share those times with my Dad.
He wasn't into motorcycles so I got a real late start.
