Just my opinion: Man..first ride on a newly put together ride...take 2 seconds and throw a helmet on.
Good point!! I've out-lived my usefulness already...

Almost Done!!

Just got the tank(s) back. Dave did superb work on the '68 tank. If you check the other photos, you will see that the right-hand side was caved in. This came out better than I ever imagined. The number plates were ordered this morning and the lower tank bracket was found in a dealer's "Old Stock" in Kansas. The bracket should be here by the end of the week.

Thanks!!

The extension cord thingy is the result of my 24 years (19 fulltime) in the fire service... Old habits are hard to break!

The "Old" Akronts are getting harder to find.
Buchanan's http://www.buchananspokes.net/ has modern Excel, Sun's and others, but I prefer the original Akront. If all else fails, there is someone on ebay selling "Fakey" Akront stickers... Only you and I will know if you go that route!!

Yea I was pretty geeked to find theseAkronts. They were new in the wrapper still old stock.

Send me that ebay link if you can on the sticker. I might need some new stickers. I want to polish and clear the wheels and might need new stickers to finish them off.

Found mine (36 spoke 18" WM3) at the AHRMA races last April. It was new, never laced, but had some surface corrosion that gave it a very used look. I felt it was a bargain at $85.
Not sure what prices you are seeing.
I have not looked at any on Ebay since I found what I needed.

Sorry for causing your obsession....

Ah its all good.. I needed rims anyways and those are just so damn cool.

I paid $200 for the 19" pair and I am sure I can get at least 1/2 of that back by selling one of them. The 18" I saw though, granted it was new, was $175 shipped. Ouchy.

I just picked up an issue of Motorcycle Classics magazine. Right there on the cover is a Triumph with my exact twin leading shoe hub inside a Acront wheel... Ohhh yea....so nice.

1968 Gas Tank Is Done

Paint is done. Proper lower mount/brace now secures the tank. Almost too nice to race... August 21 at Spokane Fairgrounds will be my first opportunity to try it on the track.
