Tomos Bullet Carburetor
Anyone familiar with the Tomos A35 Dellorto carb? I've taken it apart probably 3 or 4 times now in the past two days and I'm still having problems. Originally it would kick over and run a few seconds with the help of a whole load of ether. After a pretty thorough cleaning of the float bowl, I could get it to idle while choked, but at >50% throttle, the choke clicks off and it would die. Removing the needle and cleaning the needle passage resulted in the ability to turn over with a good deal of throttle, will run only at like >20% throttle choked or unchoked (so it's rideable as long as you keep your speed up), but it will not idle now, even with the choke on So i basically reversed my problem areas it seems. I'm getting a little tired of taking the carb off as I have to drop the whole engine/transmission box thing off the bottom of the frame to get it out. I know it's a fuel problem, I've had the idle screw in just about every possible position, and it know it's not a fuel delivery problem (all passages should be clear). Any ideas? I'll be happy to answer any questions if any clarification is needed, I really want to ride this thing, it's a lot of fun

Have you checked for a vacuum leak at the intake?
Is the float cracked and leaking? Are you absolutely sure all the passages are cleaned out (make sure you pull any welch plugs and check behind them)? All seals are new and in the proper place? Just some ideas. Looks like you can buy a whole new carb for $79 here |
