Waddaya mean I Ain't Logged In?

In an effort to be more of a contributing member to ADVrider (and more than a punk-ass smart mouth) I have attempted on several occasions to post a thoughtful in depth, insighful version of my thoughts. Only to be told I am not logged in. And of course the system deletes my carefully crafted prose.

WTF am I doing wrong? (Besides the obvious)

Strange, I've been asked to log in twice this evening. Which is twice more than usual.

Also, I changed the automatic e-mail-when-you-post setting, so that I won't get e-mails everytime someone responds to my posts. I changed it a couple of days ago. But I'm still getting the e-mail.

I turned that off a while back and noticed that it wasn't retroactive. In other words new threads that you post to will probably not generate email notification when someone follows up. But threads that you posted to prior to changing your settings will.

Bummer, dude. I am sorry this happened to you.

Variations of this theme have come up from time to time and they have always had to do with the cookies setting in your control panel or browser.

Here are some things to try:

1. Make sure cookies are turned on in the control panel, both for logging in and for browsing the forums (get to the control panel via the links on the bottom of the forums page).

2. Make sure cookies are enabled on your browser at a reasonable privacy level:

3. If for some reason it won't behave with a cookie from our site (I haven't seen this, but it could happen):

4. If all else fails, use the Mozilla browser, which will make your life better anyway because you can block all popups. www.mozilla.org

Thank you, O Lustrous One!

I will give your suggestions a try! Thanks for the tip on the Mozilla browser too. No pop ups? Geez, I can die happy now.

That explains it. Thanks.

I have a theory. The brontosaurus was thin at one end, thick in the middle and thin at the other end. Seriously though, I've deleted a file called moon@advrider.com in my /windows/temporary Internet files directory. I'll let you know if I stop getting notification from old threads. Probably the next "best boots" post ought to be a good test.

Yeah, I've been smoked too on many occasions and I think the AdvRider community is the poorer for loosing my obviously valuable insight and prose.

Gettin' pui....

Hint: Save your masterwork by copying to the clipboard then if the rascal times out on you all you have to do is resubmit by "ctrl V".

I go to the user cp and do not find an edit options feature such as you show above. The previous version had that check box for navigate with cookies. I cannot find it here. Am I looking in the wrong place?

Some of us go into Tools \ Internet Options \ and Delete Files, Clear History and Delete Cookies. Every time you go in and "Delete Cookies" you will need to re-establish yourself with ADVrider.

So, if you cruise during the day while at the office and the office has a big brother that keeps an eye on you, you will need to periodically clean out that shit above and re-link with ADVrider.

New version of the old problem. For the last 3-4 days, I'm not automatically logged in as I used to be. I haven't changed any settings, other than to follow the advice in this thread to list this forum as always allowed for cookies. I've cleaned up my caches & disk, relinked into various forums, and Advrider still logs me out every time I leave the forum.

???

Edit: I forgot to mention, I noticed in the forum CP/Edit Options - there isn't an option to turn cookies on anymore. Just Stealth and V card options for email.
