SQUIDVENTURE Costa Rica
As I type my first entry to my first ride report to you all, I am sitting in a hut in a rain forest in Costa Rica and guess what ? It's f#@ken pouring out here ! Who knew ? I'll have to start paying better attention to the name of these places I guess ?
My girlfriend and I are on day four of a ten day adventure ride down here so I will go back to the beginning and post this report whenever possible. First the title. Catchy Eh ? SQUID - Young inexperienced rider, no gear, riding poorly and often crashing trying to show off. Venture - Well, your a bright bunch, think you'll get it. I am not young unfortunately, nor lacking bike experience, rather this report is meant to be light, funny, lots of stupid stuff and hopefully even a bit informative I've heard of this posting timing out so I'll get to some pics. Day One - Leaving my prized things behind in Nova Scotia, Canada [IMG] [/IMG][IMG] [/IMG][IMG] [/IMG][IMG] [/IMG][IMG] [/IMG][IMG] [/IMG]My next entry will cover the travel. Stay tuned . . . Getting there
Stop over in Newark USA for a quick bite and more liquor[IMG]
[/IMG][IMG] [/IMG][IMG] [/IMG]Made it to hotel in San Jose, late. [IMG] [/IMG]Then to pick up the bikes at Costa Rica Trails [IMG] [/IMG][IMG] [/IMG][IMG] [/IMG]And then Carrie bought me this great patch ! Growing up on a farm I have met some pretty bright horses, but I had no idea that Einstein was such a stud ?!! Anywho, I'll take a complement when I can get one !!![IMG] [/IMG]Well, I have to upload more pics and find more beer. The next series will get into the action of it all. I'm typing this listening to howler monkeys on the side of a volcano. The only way this could be better is if it were happy hour ! Trailslapper, . . . love the pig

It's not a trail bike, but for the roads down here it is perfect and I have had a ton of fun grinding the pegs away on the millions of perfect corners. I will post some vids of that fun stuff !!!

3rd report
Its great to see some familiar adv'rs on here. I am way behind, have hundreds of pics to upload onto photobucket, so here we go !!!
Getting out of San Jose was easy due to where the bike rental was located. We were so excited that we decided to ride dead smack in the middle of the city of Cartago on our way to the Irazu Volcano. Big time lost now, pretty heavy traffic still and still not used to this heat I was thinking a GPS would not have been such a bad idea. In the end we found a police officer on motorcycle who gladly led us to the correct road. Day one and our first police escort, nice !!! The ride up to the top of Irazu is a biker paradise (40 kms ish). This volcano is 10,000 feet high and is ALL corners and elevation changes with basically zero traffic. Neve seen anything like it. Its not pavement like you are use to, but very good to rip on with these types a machines. On the top of the Volcano it is actually an effort to breath some times due to the elevation. New strange stuff. Entry in was $21.00 for two bikes and humans (?). It was worth that just to use the road to get there. Interesting stuff on the top, but we wanted to get back to the ride and Carrie was tired of watching me stagger around weezing. [IMG] [/IMG][IMG] [/IMG][IMG] [/IMG]Stopped at the Linda Vista Restaurant on the way down [IMG] [/IMG]Food was great, lots of it and priced right. [IMG] [/IMG]One last shot before we rode off to Fogville !!!!!!! [IMG] [/IMG]Starting another post in case this gets timed out . . .
