Cool2 specials & customs

See anything neat lately? I spotted this sweet Ghezzi-Brian(?) down at Laguna Seca. Gotta dig up the pic of the Boxer on nitrous--maybe tomorrow.

Looks like a OHC4 Guzzi engine, really expensive Ohlins fork and some huge front disc rotor those are... they are the size of the front wheel almost, is that a Buell item?.. WOW, impressive.

I'm probably wrong, but it looks like a Guzzi 'Scura' to me... I saw a magazine write-up recently on the Scura, way cool bike!

I think the 2002 Scura has a two valve engine, the engine above looks to be the 4-valve over head cam unit. The engine itself does not produce much more power compare to the two valve, mostly just sounds different and more expensive to produce, and the valve jobs are more time consuming. the two valve engine has a 6-speed trans, but 4-valve only available with 5-speed trans, modification is monumental.
I learned from personal experience with a Guzzi Centauro, which has a 4OHC engine, still have 5-speed though.

Brent is correct. that's a custom Ghezzi & Brian Guzzi, specifically the 2002 Pro-Thunder...I think. There are several very similar-looking models.

That's a 4 valve motor. best motor guzzi ever made. I rode a Centauro and the thing was a friggin beast. I almost pulled off a swap for my VTR. but no bite.

The Daytona (which that prolly is) motor was the same except it had a hotter set of cams.

Unfortunately Guzzi had to stop production. the 4v added something like 4k to the *production* cost of the bikes and they werent selling like hotcakes as this was the era of fogerty and polen stomping ass with the ducatis.

And they had a nasty feature. agressively self retracting side stands. and they set the thing so far forward that I, at 6'5" with a 36" inseam had a hell of a time reaching around the heads to the stand to deploy it. the cost of a tip over onto one of those heads is very daunting.

but lordy, what a rush.

seen "The Fast and the Furious"? (yeah stupid movie) in the end the dude takes out this monster drag racer dodge charger. when he romps on the gas the car *squats* and launches. that's how the 'tauro felt.

ok the fast and the furious is a shitty movie in a "film" sence of the word. it isnt going to win any best actor anythign, but for a teen molodrama/adventure movie it was pretty good. at least as good as any freey prinse Jr, movies. frankly the racing scenes were fairly accurate, and the chase at the end was good. it wasnt as good as any of the chase scenes from "ronin" but not bad for what it was. i mean to be realistic 99% of all motorcycles would beat the cars in a 1/4 mile drag but we dont want that ifo to get out to those kinds of squids now do we.

This one is in the naked style, 2V motor, single rim-brake. This guy was being stopped every 15ft on Cannery Row for info and/or pics.

Oh Yeah, realistic. When's the last time you saw somebody selecting maps for their programmable fuel injection using a laptop sitting in the passenger seat while racing in a quarter mile .
