I keep my preload at 6/7 for my ~200lbs frame and a 35l topcase and it's "ok", but a bit of good pavement and a happy right hand will make the rear shock scream. It's in my opinion the worst single part of the bike. BTW, I almost replaced my 650R ABS for a Fazer S2 ABS back in 2008, but it was a bit too much paperwork to deal with at the time so I skipped the deal.. I remember when I hopped on the FZ6 for the first time. If the 650R was 650cc, this felt like a 400 at best.. but after 8k.. WATCHOUT

RunningWild, How do you like those handguards? Do they block out some of the cold wind? I have been thinking about getting a pair. How was installation, I am not very handy.
I have the Givi v46 on my er6n on the Givi rack. Got the rack from twisted throttle and used it with an old JC Whitney case last year. Got the Givi case this year from sporttour, very fast and free shipping. ![]() Lots of photos here of the Givi v46 on my ER-6n Having had both the JCWhitney and now the Givi the Givi is much nicer and I think looks a lot better. Another word of caution. A few months after installing the Givi rack I checked it one day to find two of the four bolts holding it onto the bike had sheered off ! I don't believe I ever overloaded the rack, I think Givi just sent crappy bolts. Twisted throttle customer support referred me to Givi support who were friendly but all they did was send new (heavier duty bolts). I was still out the $125 to have the old bolts drilled out :( Not to mention what would have happened if the others sheered off while riding and the whole set up fell on my back wheel. So far no problems with the better bolts, but be sure to check frequently!!

The Barkbusters Storm handguards work really well. Installation was simple and straightforward. I bought them last winter and liked them so much I kept them on for the summer. Really helps keep the rain off and some wind. They even protected my brake lever from breaking after a slow speed tip over. |

the same bike called differently in various parts of the world (no rear grab rails though on the 650R.). I own the 2007 EU ER6F w/ABS. As for the ER6n vs. 650R/ER6f shock thing I mentioned.. it IS exactly the same, however, the ER6n's front fork rake angle is slightly different, resulting in a 1 or 1,5cm shorter (I forget, I knew this in 2007 when I bought the bike) wheelbase on the naked version. That's about 0,4-0,6".

..but not to the point thatI figured out that the new Bandit 650 was just coming out a few months later with fuel injection/water cooling/abs, and same goes for the Honda CBF600S.. at which I'm now looking at as a replacement. Oh well!

I want to put a Kaoko throttle lock on my 2010 ER6n when I get it (soon). I also want to change to a wider bar with a bit more rise. So I don't want to depend on a bar end mounting. ...ken... |

I ended up getting the Barkbusters too. Mine are the bar end mounted ones. They are a "universal fit" so not exclusive to the ER-6N bar end. They might fit other ones too.
![]() I put together a brief video review/guide on the barkbuster storms, although I later was told I have installed them upside down in the video. http://bikesareforgirls.com/2010/10/...rm-handguards/

Having owned a Versys (2x) and a 09 650r I can say the big difference is gearing and ergos. Both of course can be tweeked to meet your needs. I went with the V again after owning and enjoying the 650r simply because of the riding position and customizing potential all and a very reasonable price. All three are outstanding choices. Good luck-ride safe.
