HPN Have been using this valve cover since they were involved in the Dakar rallies. They are not as thick as the more recent type but being symmetrical meant they could be cut in half and by carrying one spare you could make two repairs.

Very nice.

I have a question about the HPN tanks - is the fuel carried lower than the petcocks, or does the lower, forward part of the tank just extend like that for the mounting points?

Yes, it definitely carries some unreachable gas. You better hope your last 10 miles before empty are steep uphill.

When you run out of fuel you can remove the tank and tilt it over so all the fuel move to the right hand or narrower side of the tank and manage to go another 5 or so miles.
