Wow what an epic story so far

, awseome thread, am loving the look of the bike.. And your riding area in Peru looks like paradise!

Wow, that sure turned out purdy! One heck of a paint job on that thing.

Would you mind sharing how much the bike and parts cost all together (not counting labor)?

that paintjob is mint! Excellent work Neil. We put in 500 km's mostly offroad today, felt good except for the 3 hours sleep I had last night

Do send some photos to Jorge at JVO Neil - I'm sure he'd love to see how fantastic his kit's look with such an elaborate paint-job! I'm sure he'd love to put it on the website/newsletter pages too - it's all good publicity x

I would be interested to know if you have kept fuel in the tanks for any period of time and if you have did the paint look like bubbling anywhere.

LukasM, the whole setup with all the spares I am taking, tyres, mousses the tooty came to around USD18K

Cummo, we had fuel in the tanks for a few weeks before painting. The rear tank was a major problem, because it was'nt washed before the base coat and the paint wouldnt stick (check earlier build pics). We think this was because of the original anti-stick stuff they put in the mould. Once it was washed, there was no problem.

It'll be interesting to see how it lasts with the 25% ethanol fuel we will be using in Brazil. Ask me again in September.

Actually, there were plenty of problems getting the paint to stick before and after scrubbing the tanks, and also with the paint going on smoothly to the carbon fiber bits. I think we got it sorted, though. We've had fuel in the tanks for a few weeks since the initial white base coat without bubbling problems. Our experience is that good quality paint on plastic tanks will last OK. Stickers never last long on plastic tanks.

I've sent photos to JVO and they plan to put them up (with mention of Neil and his attempt on the Sertoes) on the JVO website.

Molly the pitbull will keep an eye on the bike until it gets shipped on about the 12th. Those of you who know Molly will understand what a threat this is!
