When is the race?
Will I be able to watch this race on TV / Cable if so when and where
& do you know what # you will have

Best of luck to you
Enjoy & ride safe

I Like your "most of the time" comment

- The race is from the 10nth to the 20th of August.
- I believe you will be able to see it on Brazilian TV, Im not sure about Direct TV or not, I will ask the organisation and find out.
- I dont know my number yet, but there will also live tracking (I think, I HOPE), I'll ask the organisation about that and get back to you as well.

HeyDuke, if you like flowers, youve come to the wrong place, just go to Mike's (Skibum69) thread, all the girls hang out there.

Yeah, I met both of the guys who competed this year, both good guys, can't think of their names now. Huskys are quite popular here, almost 50/50 with KTM. I have yet to ride with them. Im sure we will after this rally anyway. They both got caught on the infamous Stage 3. Apparently they were privateering with no support basically. They admitted they were way over their heads, and got caught by lack of maintenance apparently. Anyway I know that one of them is preparing to go back, Im not sure in 2011 though.

In 2012, Dakar will have 3 stages in Peru as well (well it being negotiated right now), I think in a couple of years time long the rally will start in Buenos Aires and finish in northern Peru or maybe even Ecuador. That would be really awesome, because the Atacama desert continues all the way up the coast to Ecuador. About 400km south of Lima, there is a sand dune 2,200m high....and many smaller ones around 800-1,000m high. Awesome riding country this place.

Thanks for the advice on the roadbooks. Wow in english as well! Thats great. I suppose they still use the standard codes as well you know A/D; G/D; OUED etc??

Tod Davidson punctured a lung 3 weeks before the '08 Dakar during a training ride and wasn't allowed to fly to the start.

I'll be sure to send you some flowers too, here's a couple of rodo's in my apple orchard a couple of days ago to tide you over

just because your life revolves around a deep dark hole in the ground doesn't mean you can't stop to smell the flowers, like these in my front yard hahaha
