Thanks Packmule...

The Wild West Rally team riders all finished today's stage.

Phil had a lowside and bent his thumb, but not too badly. Dave Peckham was "impeccable" (nice).

Neil decided to go swimming in a river, but was able to continue.

The electrical problems still plagues him, power loss prevented him from going above 80km/h till he turned all his equipment off, which slowed him down as well as he had to turn his roadbook by hand.

Although little navigation was required, the roads are very narrow, dust is a factor and apparently the cattle grids are holes from hell.

The Kombi and Doblo team assistance vehicles are lame.

Sticking to race strategy, and riding for a finish, Neil finished Stage 2 in a time of 4:18:24

Allready, in the motorcycle catogory, there are 3 DNF's

Standings after Stage 2:

Stage 2

1º Marc Coma (2:30:50.0 )
2º Zé Hélio (2:31:57.4)
3º Deni do Nascimento (2:32:01.0)
4º Jacek C. (2:33:38.0)
5º Ike Klaumann (2:33:48.5)
6º Kuba Przygonski (2:35:00.7)
7º David Casteu (2:35:01.8)
8º Dario Júlio (2:36:29.0)
9º Juca Bala (2:38:12.1)
10º Ludovic Boinnard (2:39:07.7)

Overall

1º José Hélio (4:12:12.8 )
2º Marc Coma (4:14:12.3)
3º Deni do Nascimento (4:18:00.0)
4º Ike Klaumann (4:18:56.5)
5º Felipe Zanol (4:21:37.1)

2nd Stage winner, Marc Como on the KTM 690, probably the last time it would be seen in action in a race of this caliber

Wow! Fantastic photos IDR! Neil is gonna love that one of him in the river, with hindsight at least!

Bad news about the electrics on his bike - is it possible to disconnect the HID and just use the power to run the instruments/RB? My stock battery/stator combo worked fine in Tunisia, although I did eventually drain the battery on one day having to keep re-starting the bike in the dunes (because I'm crap) and had to kick start it for the rest of the day...

The crew fixed it after the superprime with a new stator and reg/rectifier, so no more electrical troubles for Neil, unless you count water!

According to the official rally site, translated by Google:

Evidence now left the city of Unai (MG), bound for Alto Paraiso (GO). The Sertões Rally comes Saturday in the state of Tocantins.

Text from Des in the Wild West crew 12:08pm PST:
"All riders in. All happy. No problems."

Neil moved up to 56th overall, from a last place overall at the end of stage 2 due to the electrical problems, passing 12 other competitors.

Doesn't this look good!

Po No Rider Team Na Bike
56 111 NEIL TORBEN RINGDAHL Team Wild West Rally RSA Yamaha 450

This Friday 13th, drivers have had problems with their bikes, quads and cars, during the third stage of Sertões International Rally. The 220 km special had mountains, farms, winding regions and some trials that influenced the change of leaders. The return from Unai (MG) to the State of Goiás was exciting.

Among bikes, the rider Felipe Zanol won the special with 2h44min22, closely followed by the Spanish Marc Coma with 2h44min59. Until then, the overall leader, Zé Hélio, had problems and has not yet completed the race. Other competitors stopped, as Juca Vilela, Ike Klaumann and Eduardo Frauzino.
