No kidding. Some of the most consistently excellent motorsports photography out there.

I signed up for both Maindru and Webventure photo packs for Dakar 2010 and from what I got and others I saw the Webventure photos were higher quality and you got more of them as well.

Guys, got a quick message from Neil:

Im still in the race, but its been very tough and quite hectic. Lots of stories, a lot of guys are out. Helicopter rescues every day. Carnage today with one guy crashing into a donga 5m deep and 10m wide. Someone else crashed in front of me after hitting a whoop too hard and high- siding. I rode like you would on any Sunday, knowing it would be a dangerous stage and it paid off - I finished with only one small mishap, crashing on a a very slippery mud surface on a high speed corner. No major damage to the bike or me, so thats good. Preparing for the marathon stages tomorrow and the next day, hopefully will talk to you soon!

You can view daily videos here... I can't seem to embed any of them, and I don't know if it's my speakers or what, but the sound quality on them seems a bit dodgy.

Standings are as follows:
1 bike withdrawn in his class - 13. Sylvio de Barros (129) Honda 450

1. Felipe Augusto Miranda Zanol (105) Honda 450 - 2nd over all
2. Dario J L de Sousa (116) Honda 450 - 7th over all
3. Guto Klaumann (103) Yamaha 450 -9th over all
4. Dimas Mattos (106) Honda 450 - 13th over all
5. Joao Batista T G da Silva (108) Honda 450 - 16th over all
6. Norton Lopes (125) Honda 450 - 18th over all
7. Jaime Prohens (135) Honda 450 - 38th over all
8. Eduardo D'Agostini Martins (119) Honda 450 - 39th over all
9. Joao O P Pereira D Rego Barros (122) Yamaha 450 - 42nd over all
10. Sandro Rockenback ( 121) KTM 450 - 44th over all
11. Neil Thorben Ringdahl (111) Yamaha 450 - 46th over all. His time after 5 stages 18:24:11.70. No additional penalties - (00:59:30.00)
12. Thiago Ramon Peretti (127) Honda 450 - 53rd over all

Dave Peckham 2nd in his class and 27th over all
Phillip Bowman 5th in his class and 45th over all.

Updates have been a little slow the last couple of days... seems the longer stages are taking their toll on the logistics side of things...

Yesterday, Neil dropped one place, but today:
Stage 8, un - official results:

1 MARC COMA Red Bull Brema & Menichetti AMV ESP KTM 690
2 FELIPE AUGUSTO MIRANDA ZANOL/Brasil Moto Tour BRA/MG Honda 450
3 DAVID CASTEU Casteu ELF Sherco FRA Sherco 450

Neil moved up to 30th overall, 7 th in the production class

30 NEIL TORBEN RINGDAHL Team Wild West Rally RSA Yamaha 450

From a 1st day 65/65, to an 8th day 30/52...epic, for a guy that went from noob rider to racer in a year...legend!

Have a look at the production class standings:

2 105 FELIPE AUGUSTO MIRANDA BRA/MG Honda 450
5 116 DARIO JULIO LOPES DE SOUZA Honda Racing BRA/MG Honda 450
7 103 GUTO KLAUMANN Klaumann / The Red Sector BRA/SC Yamaha 450
11 125 NORTON LOPES Compass / Brasil Moto Tour BRA/SP Honda 450
14 108 JOAO BATISTA TAGINO DA SILVA Rondonia Racing BRA/RO Honda 450
21 135 JAIME PROHENS Hermanos Prohens Rally Team CHI Honda 450
30 111 NEIL TORBEN RINGDAHL Team Wild West Rally RSA Yamaha 450
46 121 SANDRO ROCKENBACK RS Rally/Prefeitura BRA/RS KTM 450

The only non-South American, and the second Yamaha to fend of the Honda onslaught...if the piano maker does not take note, that piano needs tuning.

Neil at refuel:

Dave showing some strain:

The current leader:

Some more action:
