And yes, the only problem I had was when my Ipod froze

Hmmm.... even frozen? ... you probably didn't use enough heat for the block...

PS Nice work, good to see Ole Ursula getting a 'lift....

I think my tip is too short!

The tip of my KEY you perverts....

I was out riding. Then I stopped for a while, then continued. Before... the bike ran fine. After...the bike was "missing"...
It felt electrical...idled OK, but was having "hiccups" when I applied the steam.
My first thought was, the 46 year old Bosch condenser was practising it's "death rattle"...
If you've been following the storyline boys and girls, I used to be the coolest thing on 2 skinny wheels, 'cause I had a replacement condenser from a 1972 Ford Torino, Made in China, just for me...!that was regulating the spark from that Emerald coil, before it hit the sparkies. That condenser only cost $2.78 from NAPA.
It lasted about 3 months before it literally fell apart.
Maybe I'm not so cool anymore?
The bike ran rather oddly with the can sitting below the oil gear, the former bracket still screwed to the housing and the hot wire flopping around like Charlie Sheens' dick on a Saturday night!
So I reinstalled the original Bosch condenser. There now...that's better!
But now I'm thinking that may not be the problem.

Bear with me here, you Slash Tutu's... this is important!

Here's the main contact in the headlight bucket that receives juice from the magneto AND battery for all functions.

The shaft of the key, penetrates the entry area, with enough rigidity AND length, to satisfy the requirements of the awaiting switch.
If your shaft is too short, you will not be making the desired contact, and she can get cranky and ornery, and might cut out on you...
Your shaft needs to be long enough, to push the top of the contact into the lower. With a short shaft, you can't make happy....

Has anyone experienced this problem before????
