That's a great story. When I first got the bike, I'd gauge my fuel stops by the tripOmeter. Ran outta gas twice, before I realized the thing was on heroin. Over 20,000 miles, it's wracked up 285 miles!

I'm halfway to my next slinger service!

Have you been shopping in the KLR Accessories section of your local Home Depot store?

Are you referring to my new fishing rod transportation device?
My Dad's 4 piece travel rod, a cheap Pfleuger fly reel, and a box of flies...
I'm finding a lot of "secret" spots, that need to be fished!

adjustable wrench stories

HA! My neighbor did that to me just a few years ago when I was attempting to restore an old Vette. But I couldn't have done it without him.

Ethanol?

Spoke with Sam today. It's rainin' in Ohio as well.
He was asking if I was having problems related to 10% Ethanol...I said no...
The R60/2 doesn't seem to exhibit any major deficiencies.
He was complaining about his 69S, having problems because of the higher compression and running corn oil through it.
He mused that the way to get an S motor to last on Ethanol was to lower the compression, (thicker base gasket), thereby lowering the compression, thereby turning it back into an R60! With the resultant HP!
I'm happy with my horsepower and my 93 octane %10.
Have you guys had problems? And do you use any additives for shit gas?
I throw a bloop of Marvel Mystery in the tank, it makes the top end run smoother... and cause I remember reading all the Marvel Comics in the corner of Hallsey's Market on High St., Exeter NH as a kid.
Hallsey would sell us packs of cigarettes for $.15.....
And rubbers...
We all proudly had a circle in our wallets from carryin' that prophylactic around for years, you know... just in case you might get laid!!!
But I digress...
Do any of you have problems with gas!......?

I've been running 87 octane with 10 % alchohol for 10 years at least. Chicago smog means all the gas sold around here has alchohol added. I don't remember when it changed, but a long time ago. I haven't had any issues other than a possible loss of horsepower which I am now used to. I just rebuilt my carbs and it was the first time they were apart in 20 years. The only thing I saw was some light corrosion on the bottom of the bowls. And I can't even be sure that was caused by the alchohol.

Since my bike is now running, I feel like I can post this. My trip meter does work.
