Spoke with them yesterday... yes we're going to/can refurbish these......but, if you don't mind me asking?...

How many miles are on the bike?

The other question was, how much do you weigh....???

They should be returning from sunny CA in a week or two...

Bing

So I bit the bullet and sent these dirty girls back to Kansas for a makeover.
They've been reliable and I've done basic maintenance on them but I'll be real interested in what the Carb Doctor thinks

After 47 years and 76,000 miles

Works

The Stork brought me a bundle of joy today.
Very clean and purty...
The Invoice lists all Orings, 2 body tubes,2 shafts, 2 pistons, seals, fluids & some other stuff for 2 shocks, as replaced.
The new tubes, shafts, and pistons were discounted 50% under "warranty"...?
Two brandy new rebuilt cartridges for 1/3 the expense of a new set.
I recommend Works Performance Products for nothing else but their willingness to stand behind their product.
Can't wait to try 'em!

My guess it is a pro-rated warranty.

The shocks were on the bike when I got it 3 years ago. From the amount of work and repair listed, I'd guess they'd been on the bike for quite some time.
I looked up the warranty terms, which extend a one year warranty over street shocks, if not altered or abused.
There are no serial numbers that I could find, so I'm not sure how they determined those parts to be covered...
But I'm glad they did.
Whereas parts for these bikes are increasingly rare and expensive, this is a cost effective option.

Yes, matching numbers.

The bike is some sort of purple. That will eventually change to black but I'd like to get it running long before painting.

Reading Duane's site and other sources, I think the R50 has a later /2 front end. The headlight shell doesn't have the big divot on the under side and the front fender has the extra brace near the front fork that was missing on the pre /2 bikes--I could be wrong about all of that.

Not a runner yet but I suspect it won't take much.

I am talking to some of the local /2 and R69S owners about a slinger-cleaning and carb rebuilding tech weekend. We've got at least four /2 type bikes that need the slingers cleaned and doing it with help and supervision (sorta) seems to be a good way to open our cases for the first time.

Another Garage find

Another bike waiting for someone to come along and bring it back to life. They're still out there to be found. This one is a R69s. Original owner with the original receipt of purchase from San Diego. That's 16K on the clock. The parts not seen were included. Luckily the PO only got around to painting the fenders before he lost interest. This one will be fun!
