Question Albany WA trails and accomodation advice please?

Me and AngryAds are going to be down in Albany Thurs/Fri and I am trying to find somewhere cheap to stay. There is a place called Cosy Corner Chalets that sounds alright halfway between Albany and Denmark. Anyone know if there is any good trails to ride in that area?
Suggest anything else? (to stay or ride, we will have the 450's in the trailer) Cheers!

Middleton Beach Caravan Park right on the beach in town is pretty good. If you stay at Cosy Corner you can do a ride down to Shelley Beach. It is a short ride but you get spectacular views over Torbay Bay. You can also ride through West Cape Howe National Park which you get to on the road down to Shelley Beach. There are heaps of different rides through the forests between Denmark and Walpole. Another good ride, but out the other way is along Redgum Pass through the Stirling Ranges. It is a fully made good dirt road, but the ride is very enjoyable and scenic. If you are prepared to travel even further east the roads through the Fitzgerald River National Park are also good. Not trails, but an enjoyable run.

Here is a link to a brief report (courtesy McFingon) on the run we did on the weekend through the Fitzgerald River National Park

Hey Rhino, I went down to Albany over the weekend, a good trail Between Shannon and Walpole on the way is take Weld rd on the north side of Weld river, not sign posted but it's just where the SW highway crosses the river, follow that for about 20 k's and it 't's with another rd (cant remember), that takes you about 30 k's into Walpole, passes through the Mt Fraklin nat park where there are heaps of good tracks, through Jarrah and Karri, lots of tracks off the main track.
I stayed at a place called East Beach on the other end of 2 peoples bay, Camp right on the edge of the beach, fantastic white sand etc, about 30k's east of Albany, take Homestead rd - gravel then follow the signs, or turn off to I think Bettys beach, there are heaps of fishing shacks, They dont mind you using them if there not there.
Have fun.

I've wandered around the place a few times pissed and never had a problem... once had a pervert at Esperance check out my wife through the tent but thats another story... Albany seems safe enough to me, and we are fairly large lads, thanks for the warning though Nutter! ... more worried about AngryAds getting pissed and turning on me hahahahaha

Wicked Albany beer fest???? Why the hell not?

Speaking of being on the piss... if any of you unsavoury Albany biker types want to catch up for a beer or many then pm me and I will send ya my mobile. Probably be at Tanglehead Brewery from about 8pm onwards.

Tanglehead Brewery no longer exists, it is an ex - brewery, shuffled off this mortal coil, etc. Still got a few of their pale ales in the fridge though .

I recommend The Earl of Spencer (cnr Earl & Spencer streets) as a venue with a wide range of local & imported brews on tap. Might be a bit crowded there on a Friday night, I'm only an occasional pub customer.

You could always check out the view at the King River Tavern on a Thursday arvo/evening. I'm pretty sure FIIG Rick can endorse the management of that establishment...

Cosy Corner Chalets could be deemed a bit stiffy for a couple of likely lads. You're welcome to camp at my place (and leave your bikes o/n), but it's 25km out of town - (no pubs). If you want to paint the town red and blow the froth off a couple of cold ones though, , somewhere in town might be best. Happy to meet up on Friday evening for a while.

Albany would have to be the safest place I've ever lived........

Wind Farm to Mutton bird, along the beach to Cosy and then into West Cape Howe, to Golden Gates and even Dunskys would be good (in an extreme sand sort of way). Nice tracks from Denmark to Walpole as well. See you Thursday, can help you suss it out then.

Adrian

Cruise Inn on Middleton Road (I live nearby).
Unlimited number of 4wd beach tracks west and east of town.
