I haven't been since the rain we had Thursday night. Hoping to ride out there soon...like in the next hour.

Rode out there. At the first water corssing (wet spot) I could tell it was a bit wetter than last week. I walked over to the spot I crossed last week, and could see the water flowing through the puddle. Probably not THAT much wetter, but I knew this was by far the easiest water crossing on that stretch of trail. I turned around, not feeling like wrestling my big XRL through mud...have I mentioned I hate riding in mud?

I took Page Rd over to Chin Page where the trail crosses. This is the section I haven't ridden yet...Chin Page Rd to Page Rd and across Page Rd to the ponds next to I-40. I did backtrack back towards Alexander until I got to the big mud bog about a half mile in. The whole place is holding a bit more water than last week. The "dry" spots were softer and the wet spots were deeper. It needs time to dry out to suit my tastes.

The 1st water crossing from Alexander Dr. The spot I go "around" is to the far left. Hard to see in this pic, I know.

I plan on trying URE this spring/summer. Did you ride the trails for just fire roads?

I'd have to haul my bike down there though. No way am I riding the XRL all the way down there, then riding it home after a day of dirt. THAT'S why I own a truck!

Didn't you say you were 2 hours from the Raleigh/Durham area? You sure you want to come that far to ride some washed out powerlines? I only ride it because it's maybe 10 miles from my house, and I'm bored and desperate for something to ride!

Just saying....I wouldn't travel an hour to ride that garbage....but since it's here......

How many miles of fire road are there around URE?

I can get out for a few hours Sunday morning. Would need to be back home by lunch/noon.

Was out of town the past two weekends and busy as heck at work the last two weeks.

My off-road skills are weak so not looking for extreme enduro riding. Slow paced, fun ride, to get out and enjoy.

I'll check back to see if early Sunday works for anyone. If not, hope ya'll have a good weekend.

I'd be up for a local ride most any Sunday morning. Need to see how quickly this rain dries up though....or find some fire roads. No way the RTP powerlines will be passable after the rain.
