Wandered over to check out the area from Chin Page to TW Alexander. Results below.

Lessons learned

1) Don't go alone
2) Scooters ain't DS bikes.

Still, I made it home in 1 piece and, if I'm lucky the chest pains are only pulled muscles from dragging the scooter out of the mud time and time again - not a sign of something else.

In the 2nd and third photos, the bike is so deep in the mud that the mud is holding it upright. There is no kickstand holding it up.

Next time call if you're stuck. Jeeps good at pulling things out. DR not so much prolly.
Or at least I could have ridden over and laughed.

(Nicely done though. That's pretty awesome)

I think you have the wrong scoot, and I have the wrong tires.

You need a ruckus for that junk.

That hole with the tires in it, in your 3rd pic....I went through the woods to get around that one! When I was there there were no dry lanes in that spot.

Other than those water crossings or mud holes, or whatever you want to call them, it's actually a fun spot to ride.

I've had my XRl stuck and standing in the mud all by itself too. My entire front tire was under water/mud! I needed a winch to get mine out!

This has me ready to go play....who wants to go?

I want to introduce myself to this forum since I live in Raleigh. I have taken my DR650 off road only two times in the 3 years I have owned it. My off road skill is almost nil but I need to improve for future plans. I would like to ride with people who will not be too frustrated riding with a slow old noob. I am willing to go a distance to riding areas like uwharrie.

I only have tomorrow afternoon to go out and play, so I will have to stay local. That little scooter route previously posted has some potential.

Anyone up for some afternoon DSing tomorrow?

So who wants to get together this afternoon in the Raleigh area for some off road/DS riding?

I don't know of any areas that we can ride and will have to depend on others knowledge of the area.

I should be free after noon....by 1:00am or so for a couple of hours. ALL I know right around town is the RTP area stuff that Jersey posted pics of above. It's not LONG....but there are a lot of side trails that I have not explored.

You can go in from Alexander Dr in "Durham" or Chin Page Rd just off Miami Blvd....all right off I-40 basically. I have not yet been from Chin Page Rd over to Page Rd, as it's marked with No Trespassing signs there and there's a gate. But there of course is a way around if you really want to go. That's really the only part of the entire section of powerlines "marked and gated".
