Awesome work on the scooter.

I just got back from an early morning of helping set up a spring market. We have a soccer game at 1pm. Then I might be able to get out around 3pm for a couple of hours.

I want to chase the NCTAG right now. But I don't think I can get it and be back before the game. It's borderline time wise.

Rode this morning early and it looked like rain/sprinkles but it's sunny and hot right now. No tag chasing. Going for a short ride. I'll check back later to see if anyone sets a plan in motion for later today or later tomorrow.

Have a good weekend.

I'll be leaving here in a few minutes, need to suit up. Could be at Sheetz on corner of Miami and Alexander at 3:00-3:15pm.

Will be closer to 3:30pm for me....Sheetz at corner of Alexander and Miami.

We'll go up Alexander and play in the mud for a little while....get sunburned and heat exhaustion, etc.

Everybody is welcome.

Boy oh boy, am I out of shape! Anybody got a treadmill they need to sell?

Me and Rooster went and played in the mud and dust for a little while, dirtied up my previously clean bike.

RTP powerlines have dried out a bit, the mud holes weren't bad at all in most places. Only had to get off and push once, and that was on powerlines #2 of Glenwood Ave...new super secret spot.

What was that big asphalt loop....old airport property?

Yeah, the asphalt loop is where the airport authorities use to park the abandoned vehicles on that loop years ago. I didn't want the TSA coming out and asking what we where doing there, so I doubled back through the power lines and the tractor did great.

I can guarantee I'm slower than you and my skill level is on the negative side of the scale.

I'm also in Raleigh.

We should just plan a ride one day that's not too wild. Anybody know of any good long stretches of dirt/gravel with a few powerlines thrown in out east, near Smithfield of Clayton?

I'd be up for that. Dirt/gravel/powerlines would be great for this old man.

Didn't get back from game yesterday in enough time to meet ya'll. Just got back from another game right now. Was Looking to go ride. I have been map scouting two runs off 50 near 40E. I may go ride over there and check it out from the road. Access and so forth. I'll check back in about thirty to see if anyone is riding elsewhere or wants to check out the powerlines.

I can't go right now...although I wouldn't mind riding today. But I spent the last 30 seconds think where 40 and 50 intersect. Drawing a blank....of course I live right off 50, the Creedmoor Rd section that runs north above 540. So I'm probably not even close. You're probably talking about 50 from Garner to Benson.

For those who are worried about not having much off road experience, but still wanting to go ride somewhere. There are places to ride. Just getting used to riding off pavement is a good starter. And although many roads that were gravel just a few years ago have been paved over, there are places to go ride and get used to the lack of asphalt traction. Umstead park has a few miles of gravel you can legally access from 70 near Angus Barn. Some of the pay-to-ride places can be good too. NCMP near Henderson has several miles of trails...some of which are beginner friendly. But they also have a "kiddie track" which is a small dirt track with a few mild jumps that you can simply just ride over like little hills. But it's decent practice for riding in the limited traction off road stuff. Outback ATV park in Laurinburg has a lot of sand and dirt roads, some double track and some tight single track. But plenty of it is rideable by just about anybody....at your own pace.
