I want another woods bike!! I had a DR-Ze for a couple of years and a KTM 300exc. Seems maybe better suited for some of the rides you guys are doing.
If i picked up another one or a wf450, and put a dual sport kit on,
How hard is it to get Tags in TN?? I hear maybe quite difficult.
Appreciate input.

TN plates

In Williamson- no one has ever questioned any of the vehicles I have attempted to have plated.

Honestly it doesn't make sense for the state to not let you plate it. Not only will you pay the state to get the plate, but the Popo can bust you for more cash later should you get caught. Money Money Money!

So I can only suggest that you make the bike as street "compliant" as possible and don't open yourself up to liability when on the road- i.e. don't hit anyone

Tags aren't too hard....just some legwork has to be done.

download application for title with state
get VIN verified by police
get appraisal from bike shop
get street legal (headlight, mirror, functioning tail/brake light)
take pictures of bike showing it is street legal
write short letter to guy at state
take it all down to clerks office
pay taxes on appraised value and fees for plate
6 weeks later a true title from state shows up in mail.

Legwork takes 2 hours
fees/taxes maybe $300?
brake light kit/mirror maybe $75??

PM me with phone number....I'll walk you through it. I live and ride in WIlliamson all the time. Never been stopped....but I mind my manners on the road.

And not many cops ever check a vin number agenst a title unless its been one like it stolen in the same hood you get stoped in. Sooo.. if you have a old title for like a drz-s you can use it for anouther drz-m. or like a honda xl for a xr. they do it all the time here, i have pulled them over many times and know damn good in well a Xr dont have a tagg type title. (but no one really cares here in maury county) But ihatefalling,,, what you are talking about that was done up there in your county might work, but will not work here in maury. They check the vin number and look at a TDOT chart at the court house and will not tag a class off road. (i tryed and they turned me down one time)...BUT thats how we get by with it here in mule town. The cops here only care that the bike has all lights, and the tag comes back to you in your name, and is the same class size and color and type of bike...(or close) But thats just in maury county..i cant speak for THP or anyouther county. GOOD LUCK BRO !

Well, War Eagle Basketball season is officially over. Sycamore won their region (1st time ever) and made it to Sectionals (Sweet 16), but missed the State Tourny by 5 points (65-60). Therefore, My daughter has cheered her last game, and I no longer carry the Distinction and Honor of Sycamore Cheer Dad.

I've watched those kids play since they were in the 4th grade and hated to see it end. Honestly, I would rather be watching them.

But since they are not playing anymore, that does free up a little time.....

This is what I do.

http://www.tn.gov/revenue/forms/titl...401Fill-in.pdf

I approach it as....the bike doesn't have a title....at all.

Dept of Rev tells me the county doesn't have anything to do with it. DOR issues title and if vehicle has title and is street legel the county has to issue tags. County has nothing to do with titling.

NOW.....Many a guy I've tried to help will tell you they've gone down to the clerks office to turn in papers and there is a dumbass behind the counter that thinks they know what they're doing and tell you you can't get tags. Most dudes clam up at that point and walk away....screwed b/c now they clerks office will be on the lookout for that dude when he comes back. I've learned that at the moment they tell you no....you tell them you've spoken with DOR, this is thier SPECIFIC instructions and I'd be glad to get on the phone with them RIGHT NOW if you like.

State of TN issues me/others a green "for real" title with the bikes actual VIN on the Title. Title does not say "offroad use only" b/c I have proved it is street legal with headlight, brakelight, mirros and pictures.

Bike can be sold and titled in any state (I assume).
I have plated a KX, KDX, DRZ and helped numerous KTMs and Husas get titled.

Sunday ride?

I'm headed out sunday morning if anyone is interested. I will be leaving Dutton's store in Auburntown around 10 headed (gravel wise) through Gassaway, Short Mountain and through the Pea Ridge WMA. Gravel, broken pavement and my favorite 3 mile dirt road. Should be back home(boro) by 3-4pm.
