1) That Spot tracker is COOL!

2) IHateFalling is hard core! Its 5:20PM and he is up ridge running some mountain ... Deeply Forested and getting dark out ... Hope He Brought His Bear Gun ...

Must be headed home because it looks like he's on interstate 40 and moving quick! He covered a lot of ground in 1 hour.

No ... at 5:32 he made a full loop on the ridge ... I can see the trails cut in the forest with Sat Image... I'm going to check back in a half hr to see his next location ... what decision will he make ... If he turned left he is going to be DEEP in the WILDERNESS in the DARK ... ... If right he can get out of there in an hour.

Check and make sure the Spot Messengers name is JASON ... You might be looking at someone different... Who else is crazy enough to ride in an unfamiliar forest at night ... Gotta Be Him

did a search....... i'm lost.

Think I got this one! I wanted to be able to use gps and maps in offline mode...no 3g downloading maps and running up data charges!

Were some free programs that weren't that great...then I found motion-x gps...there is a lite version which is free!

It allows you to download maps and save them on your phone...so you don't need signal, etc

Can also post your tracks...and geo tagged photos with your location, etc

Also found instructions for you on importing and exporting gpx files...but haven't done it myself...excellent program! Not affiliated with them.

Can set it up for auto/car/bike/hiking, etc...and voice coach can be configured to give you info regularlly on progress or turned off...very cool app!

Does everybody in Middle Tennessee know Tom Patton Rd is closed but me?

Did part of Hickman today for first time. Left Leiper's about 1030.
On the big Strom. My buddy has one, so we took em. Dutch Potts, Lick Creek, etc no problem.
Got to Tom Patton rd, i might have saw a sign that said road closed, local only. Heck, we're local, right? BIG berm and logs placed across road after a couple of miles. BUMMER.
Stop, get off......look for a way thru. I hear a voice. "HEY, the roads closed". Guy walking toward us.......
uh, oh. somebody's gonna be a AH i think to myself.
I was so wrong. we chatted a bit. He checked out the bikes. Asked if we really wanted to go on, "with the water and all"...... HECK YEAH! He led us thru his yard, around his barn, thru a gate and back on the road!!!!
Water crossings awesome. Boots got filled up. had to push each other a few times.
Best day ever.
