That is about as good a spot as any for me... All those of you who like to trailer could possibly leave your truck and trailer at the gas station..... as usual I wll be riding down....

Any of you C'ville slackers want to come down and play in the land of the creek crossing.....

Seems like a lot of guys that I know that have been riding for a long time prefer to ride on Sundays.......any given SUnday I suppose

Problem for me is, I'm such a wuss....I need Sunday to recover

What about July 9th? WIll that work for TNSteve and the other hard ballers in the house. To do another exploratory run. Trailer down to Monteagle area and get lost and abused all day long, come home that evening.
If any of these upcoming rides get pushed to Sunday I'm in! Yea yea I know another Sunday rider but in my business you work every Saturday you even plan your vacations around them! Gotta chase the$$$ to afford the toys.

I'm in! The little XT has been a blast the past few weekends but with what everyone is saying about me already having it at the max of it's ability I am now seriously looking for a DRZ400. Which seems to be the best mix as far as I can figure since they are apparently bulletproof, so it will fit in well with my maintenance program!

TR and I saw another rattlesnake on our ride and it reminded me of how well camoflauged (sp) those dudes are. I've got to believe there are alot more rattlers out there than we think. If you were walking/standing in some leaves, you could literally have one 6 inches from your foot and never know it.

+1

The biggest snake I have ever seen (in the wild) was a RATTLESNAKE and I met him on the road THIS summer in HICKMAN CO.

He was NOT afraid of me!

One of the locals out there told me that they were on the endangered species list (Farmers had just about killed them all off) So the WMA has been capturing them in other regions and trucking them down here to repopulate them. That they have protected them by law.

I will second the Sunday factor. Saturday will be busy with the Moonshine Lunch Run Post meeting.

But then again, if I fail to make that event....I'd be interested in a Hickman ride just to see what all of the talk is about.

Where is Hwy 7 & 100? I can find the 100 no problem. GPS coords?

Why so many get-offs.....too fast?

Hey 2fast.....looks like that guy had a trials tire on there.

TanasiRob just now rode by my house.

Well...my woods ride yesterday fell apart. Have a new handlebar set-up I've been wanting to get out and use. Guess I'll have to wait. And to top it off...the RRs from the ride are coming in and everyone said it was a blast...

I saw that TanasiRob couldn't go to LBL. I told him I have some areas I've been wanting to recon around Monteagle (WP,SS,JV,TK). He bit the bullet and said he would go down there with me. Loaded up and hauled arss down thur. By this time ya'll had probably been riding LBL for 2 hours.

Hit several steep dead ends. Started getting tired. Finally got on the rgiht stuff (I think) and then hit an ocean (15??) of trees that had been blown over by storms/tornado?? Absolutely no way to get thru. Ran into some 4x4 doods that were riding and clearing the trail. Ended up having to backtrack all the way to the truck.

I think there is a hell of an offroad loop that could be done down there but it will take several recons with GPS to figure it out. SOme really cool riding from what we saw.

Need to wait a few weeks to go back down and recon. So hopefully locals can clear the trees.

I'll post up when I go back down so ya'll can go if you want.

MUST:

1) Be able to go 70 miles ??? of slower offroad on a tank
2) Be able to haul your own gear.
3) Be able to ride LONG distance.
4) Like....I mean LOVE riding rocks.....all day long

Complimentary XR parking:

In fairness to TR......the above pic was was taken while I was riding his bike

The above ride was around Monteagle. Need to go back a few times b/c the way we found it was not the way you would normally go in to ride. We actually gained access to the better stuff be running into a guy in his field and he let go across his property

No Prob, if it had rained, it would have been even better.

I love that place, there are so many places I haven't been I know the group could spend a long weekend exploring. If we can just keep the forrest service from closing more roads...

monteagle trails.....

IHF,

I have ridden some trails in the monteagle and tracy city area that come out around the trials training center. The "Damn Locals" four wheel drive club keep the trails cleaned up pretty well but there are a lot of creek bed trails with baby head sized rocks. I have only been on ATV and jeep and its pretty rough but there is some cool stuff to see if a person can find a reasonable way in and out that wont kill a fellow. I will try to dig up some pics.....and I would love to explore more of the area for sure.

Hunter.
