weird....that's our spot . Ya'll come on by. WP, I'm sure there's plenty of room if you don't stay with RZ.

SO are there any spots within LBL we need to hit on the bikes? Besides T Bay?

I'm far from an experienced rider like most/many of you, but in my opinion, you can't go wrong taking any of the numbered roads that look "bad." LBL uses a numbered road system, 1xx is paves, 2xx is gravel, 3xx and 4xx are much lesser maintained. I've not ridden a ton out there yet, but I hit some of the 200 and 300 roads last weekend and had quite a bit of fun, even if I did have to turn around on many of them. Just a few miles North of the South welcome station, on the west side of the Trace (I think it's just south of either Tharpe Road or Brandon Springs Road) is a road that drops off into a decent sized puddle. I really liked this track. The left branch goes back 4 miles or so and then ends at the N/S hiking trail, and the straight-on branch goes back a few miles before I got blocked by a very large downed tree. Looks clear on the other side, just pretty overgrown around it. I have a feeling that if you could get around it, it might meet up with another road on the back side.

Sorry I can't be more help than that, but I've only jeeped a handful of trails out there, and ridden even less since I got the bike a few weeks ago.

OK....thanks for posting that. DIndn't know about the road numbering system. I tried to download the map from the LBL site but it didn't work. I'll try and chase down those roads on Google maps I guess...

IF any of the good roads are on google maps, it's just going to be the first little bit of them. The roads I've looked up on google are all messed up, roads that don't exist are listed, tons of roads that do aren't there, etc. Try this:

Turkey Bay is like a state fair for riders. You are all fenced in on a certain acreage. Big Acreage! They give you a map with color coded trails for difficulty levels.

What ever day you are looking for is in that ride. Easy or Carry Me Home!

The only thing - a lot of the trail is laden with strange rocks. They are almost perfectly 4" squared stones. Think of a kids wooden building blocks ONLY these all have razor sharp edges to shred your tires.

Bring a spare tube and have a blast!!!!

In my adult years of riding i have wrecked my bike 4 times. All done the same day in the same place - TURKEY BAY!

ya - that's what I meant ...

my spot - #300, is right in the middle of everything ... you, on the other hand, will be watching the sun set over the water in your own private corner of the campground!

Thanks for the heads-up on road numbering, S.S.!

... and W? just reinforced the only thing I've heard about Turkey Bay - a buddy told me "those damn rocks can rip the knobs off your tires!"

You can get a really good map from the Visitors center that shows all the "LEGAL" roads that you can ride in the LBL...

Turkey bay is ok... it gets boring real quick its kinda small....... Plus its 15 bucks to ride... and the rocks are loose and some are kinda big...

I'm not sure when they changed from the old black and white (actually brown and white) maps to the new huge fold out color map (that costs $3, the old ones where free), but there are a bunch of roads missing off of the new maps that are included on the MVUM that you can download for free. Maybe I'm wrong, but that is what I noticed when I got it.

It's not a bad map, just not as cool as the older, slightly harder to read bu MUCH more information packed, smaller free maps.
