Opa means grandfather. It's a term commonly used by Germans and Dutch and I think Greeks sometimes use it.

Rider hurt @ LBL?

Hey, any of you Tn / Ky inmates hear anything about the rider up in LBL air lifted out over the weekend?

I heard he was riding a CRF 450 pinned 6th gear WFO when he hit that first wash or rain break just as you leave the parking area by the Ranger Station headed for the boundary trail? Whats that 90mph. My riding buddies were coming out of the woods when he went flying past them like he knew where he was going. It wasn't til they were loading up that they heard about the accident. From what they heard there he hadn't regained conciousness when the helo left the scene?

Just a bunch of fellow riders wanting to follow up. Wish him well sounds like he may need it.

I have not heard anything, but I have no doubt it's true. I think I'm heading that way this weekend to check out Energy Lake and scout a little on the V-, I'll try to get some details. Turkey Bay is not a groomed MX track, plenty of natural hazards that change every time it rains.

Turkey bay can be ALOT of fun. I often ride there with my daughter on our dirt only machines. Anyone who "WFO's a 450" in 6th. gear there is a sociopath! Turkey Bay is a family park open to the public 365 days a year. That means there are always small children out there just learning how to ride on PW 50's or tiny quads.

Serrious ''racing paces" are really only safe on private land/closed courses. If I rode up on the scene of some jerk who T-boned a child at 90 mph, I imagine it would be very hard to resist the urge to begin soccar kicking the guy as he lays bleeding on the ground.

I'll keep this guy in my prayers with two goals. A speedy recovery & a thimble full of common sense, which is clearly more than he's got now.

+1

Over the years riding up there I've scene more than my fair share of let's just call it "dumb shit moves". And from the sounds of it yeah this guy qualifies!

TB is a great place and we as a riding community don't need to be reminded about the Gov't quest or need to eliminate riding areas. We all know too well that its incidents like this that tarnish our sport more than some people realize.

I hope the rider recovers to ride another day but let's all hope he wakes up and see the error of his ways!

TreeMuncher - Out for Saturday now. Have to work all day. Sorry. Anyone want to ride on Sunday cause I still have that off?

Also regarding Turkey Bay, when I was riding through LBL last weekend, on saturday taking the Striple up the trace I went by Turkey Bay's entrance and saw like 2 ambulances and a whole bunch of cop cars. Guess that's what that was.....crazy.

This rig is full of sod and he's got a forklift on the back too.
Tried to make it up the hill at my house.
No go.
Backed it up as far as he could and got a little kinked in the road.
Now they are offloading some of the sod to the side of the road.
