So Dillon, my son, listed his crf150 on CL. Today the guy comes out with his son to look at it. He's putting on his helmet to take it down the street and starts talking about March moto madness. It's boozer007. What a small world.

And we only took that 150 to the drags 2 or 3 times I swear

Looks like a less hardcore KTM 950 ADV to me....if you lean more street/gravel I bet it's sweet.

Having owned both, I can tell you that it's much less hardcore than the KTM Adventure. The KTM is amazing off-road and not shabby on-road either. However, the Tenere requires much less maintenance and is much more reliable. I put 15-20K miles on my street bike annually. The KTM isn't a 20K per year bike, IMO. I have taken the Tenere on stuff rougher than gravel roads, but it's not really the best bike for that.

Well, I am still jonzing for the S10...but I don't know if I am going to talk myself into spending that kind of money. I just have to convince myself that I NEED it.

My excuse from last year is no longer valid. I thought,"if 2012 is really the end of the world, I'm going to enjoy my last few months of life on a new bike that I really like and want."

Get creative, think of a new excuse and go buy it. You won't regret the purchase except for the price of good farkles.

Jesse luggage= $1300, crash bars and skid plates = $300-$400 each, quality of the ride = priceless

Nobody "needs" a motorcycle. If we used that logic nobody would have one.

Believe it or not, I get more miles on it than I've ever gotten on any bike, simply by running Heidenau Scout K60's. I got 8K out of the last rear and the front should go way beyond that. The stock Metzler Tourance EXP's only lasted 3K for the rear and 6K for the front. 8K for a rear tire is unheard of for me. I've never gotten more than 5K out of any rear tire.

The traction control may help too.

Here's a link below to a trip a riding buddy of mine from out East is getting ready to take his Yam Big Bike on a rather long road trip. He also rides this monster off road in the New Jersey Pine Barrens like he's running the old African Dune stages of the Dakar Rally. I own the VStrom and have had the pleasure of riding the S10 on a few occasions and the Yamaha is a far superior machine for all categories of adventure riding. 2up you name it.
