treemuncher: I had a couple of "oh shit" moments on the Tenere where I came close to letting gravity win but by skill or luck, I kept it upright. The beast is not fun on the leaf covered snot. It is great on tarmac or hard packed gravel but the slick spot scares took away a lot of fun from the day.

Hey treemuncher, don't you know that the only "luck" in dirt biking is Bad luck. Any time you "almost" crash, the save is due to your level of "mad skill". Any time you actually go down, it is due to bad luck. I thought every dirt rider knew this.

Looks like you guys had a blast. Wish I could have joined ya'll but, I was "stuck" riding Loretta Lynns Spring trail ride all weekend on the Katoom.

The bike almost looks familiar but I can't place it (other than in my wet dreams).

Not as HARD as that one would..... It'd take 4 guys to lift that off of a downed rider!!!! (still damn cool though!)

Sorry you had trouble getting them out. I forgot to tell ya'll that I usually jb-weld them in place so they don't fall out and get stuck in the lateral phase retractors.
Man I know what you mean, once you get a shim stuck in the LPR's you are done for big time ! ! I was out of jb-weld so I just tacked them in with the arc welder, don't think they'er goin any where this time !

Adventure bike ride, Saturday April 13.

Last summer I posted in Craigslist looking for "Adventure Tourists" interested in riding the larger bikes, 800 and 1200 GS, Stroms, Tigers, and the like, on pavement and dirt roads. Got a lot of response and had a couple of small group rides last fall.

I posted early this week for a ride tomorrow and got a fair amount of interest. We will be kickstands up at 10:00 from the McDonalds on Highway 100 near, just east of Old Harding Pike heading down the Trace to Leiper's Fork then surface roads to Centerville. Some dirt, no water.

Anyone who reads this thread is welcome.

Here is Google map of meeting spot.

ride this weekend

Anyone interested going down to Prentice Cooper on Sunday? No managed hunt this weekend so looks like the whole park is open. Would also be up to another area if PC isn't good for you. Might even do some exploring in SV. Never been there but always like to explore new areas.

I ride a DRZ 400 geared low. Will be looking for lots of gravel and dirt.

I'm out of Murfreesboro.

Travis
