yes, wild flower, right off intersection of Kedron Rd. and Joe Peay Rd. in Spring Hill. Its pretty weak, but its all I have that is close. Flat, dusty and hard packed. Good for a muck about when you don't have much time.

I think I saw SandalScout riding north on I-65 today around lunchtime. He looked to be with another bike. I figured they went for the pixel hunt tag, but he hasn't checked in yet. Maybe it wasn't him.

It was me and Matt for those that have met him. We are out riding today and tomorrow, but no pixel hunting.

We ended up in Manchester (Old Stone Fort) for the night. We set up camp and on the way back from dinner, and a deer hit me.... dead center in the side. Somehow, I kept the bike upright, and got stopped. He hit me in the leg, tank and lower fairing and rear bags. It bent the radiator overflow support frame. The tank fairing is broken in like 8 places and has a bunch of hair stick in all of the cracks. No idea how I kept it upright.

Matt said it looked like the deer was trying to tackle me.

Do you think your jacket might've blinded him?

Glad to hear you're ok!

Maybe!

I still can't believe it wasn't worse than it was. I saw it from the neck forward for less than a second before the hit. It jumped out of a ditch full of bushes, Matt was behind me and said he never had time to really react himself, and he thought it was going to get wrapped up in the rear end of the bike. The deer fell down and ended up on the ground facing the ditch, finally getting up, turning around and crossing the road as it originally intended. I believe I was doing 35mph when it hit.

There were three cars behind us, and three cars coming from the other direction. All six cars slowed down, and it was clear that at least 2 of them saw exactly what happened..... not a single one stopped. Another guy on a bike did, as did the ranger who checked us in, as he was leaving the campground for the night.

Dang dood - whatever you've been doing, keep it up.
What a super lucky break.
Don't want to be a downer but - you're right, that could have been a LOT worse.
I love watching deer but have truly learned to fear them when riding.

I was riding woods once and one jumped across the front of me right at face level.
He was so close that I swear I could see the individual hairs.
It took me a few seconds to figure out "what the he!! was that?!"

Got that right...any time you win a fight against a "forest rat" is a good win! Glad you made it without asphalt surfing!

Would need to be home around 2 at the latest.

Looks like somebody's been bitten by the street bug.

Double Damn. And, like everyone else, glad you are ok and it was not worse. I enjoy watching deer as well, but with out many natural predators they are a killer of motorcyclists.
While it wasn't as close a call, my buddy and I almost got taken out by an armadillo on Saturday night....in downtown Franklin. I was all set to wheelie over him, but my buddy was on a 150cc scooter and would not have been so lucky.
