I want to thank IHF for the movie tickets for Why we ride. It was cold buy of course there were some brave mo fo's that road.

During the movie everyone could relate to certain parts cause the movie covered about all bikes.

There is one particular part that got me. If anyone knows me I come from Cal. were I rode a lot of desert, including Baja. There is a part in the movie were they start showing motor homes driving thru the Calif. desert. Me and my wife were sitting in the very front of the theater. I elbowed here and said yeah here we go.

My jaw drops WFO because they start showing people camped and riding in the same spot I started riding at. Red Rock Canyon. I remember my kx100 took a dump and my dad let me ride his 1974 mx 250. My mom told me to stay close to the camp and don't climb the hill in front.

So after 5 min's of around the camp I pointed that 250 towards the hill and hit second gear and did my first real hill climb. I remember that day like in high def. and now so many years later it pops up in this movie.

So here are the pics out of the movie.

This first one is the road leading into the canyon. You can see the hill climbs to the left.

This second one is the view from the top of the hill climb looking down where we used to camp.

As usual the opener did not disappoint. Some of the story lines we have seen before: The defending champ goes 1rst day back spastic, KTM gets a has a fairy tale evening, Alessi gets the hole-shot (of his career) and old number 7, well.....you know. It has all the makings of a great season.

If you ever wonder how fast they go in the whoops, JS7's crash will be on the highlight reel for the rest of the season.

Doug,
That was a pretty cool movie. Like you said, it pertained to most of the subcultures of riding. Pretty cool shit. Made me realize that I really do like it all.
And that fact that they mentioned and filmed where you used to ride is awesome too. I have lots of good memories riding as a kid.

I was looking around for folks I know. Saw Sandalscout! But after the show didn't hang around long. Didn't see you or I'd have said hi. Sorry I missed you. YEah, the few bikes that rode...welll...looked damn cold.. I wouldn't have ridden to a movie even if it were nice out. Gear and stuff would have been a pain in the ass at a theater.

As for the rest of the movie. They tried a bit hard to make is somewhat emotional. Could have done with a bit less of that. But it was a fun show. I liked the slow-mo stuff a lot.

Worth a watch if you get the chance.

Indeed...
Opener did not disappoint. Some good racing going on. The story-lines are forming for what I think will be a fun season.

Yes, very enjoyable. Saw you ans SScratch, sat next to clocklaw, and Doug sat in front of us.

When we left, guys were just starting their bikes, the blue sport bike was having a hell of a time finding idle. Didn't sound happy to be out in the cold!

I set my DVR to record the series, but I wish the coverage was more about the bikes and less about the trucks, buggies and BFT's (big fook'n trucks).

I used to rock Tioga Farmer John's. They were the business before Ground Controls. I'm showing my (our) age.

I hope the prodigal son is not seriously hurt. When he is on, he is amazing to watch and study.
