Bikes in Memphis

Buddy o' mine in Memphis has a couple bikes for sale here on ADV. I can vouch for the man and his machines. He's picked up a beautifully sorted KTM 990 Adventure and selling these off.

2006 Kawasaki Concours - really low miles
http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=953694

and a 2008 DR650 SE - way too many wheels included
http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=953705

Look how the cat photo-bombed him in this pic...

I always get hot and bothered when these come up for sale because they are probably the best value in motorcycles today.

That said, when I saw that price, I just went 'Ohhh Myyyy'

I nominate you to put on a DS ride soon. Would like to meet you and get some miles on my newly neglected KLX and Buell (damn Sherco and damn Westpoint are too darn fun!).

You, know... I didn't look at his prices. Like I said--he's a great guy! He's owned it less than a year, and I guarantee it's in better shape now than when he bought it.

I will likely add a 1st Gen Concours or FJR to my garage sometime in the next couple of years. And I won't be spending that much, I want one that's at least gotten through the break-in miles... But someone will want something this low miles I'm sure.

I've had people warn me about following IHF on a ride. Something about parts falling off (and they didn't mean bike parts).

Let's keep our fingers crossed that it warms up this weekend and maybe we can go to Sequatchie Valley (Coalmont, TN). It's kind-of dual sporty but mainly fast trails. I WOuld take the Sherco to SV.

Around here it seems like you've got:

LBL and Hickman are gravely with pavement and some dirt roads ("dual sport")

Sequatchie is faster jeep trails but has a lot of advanced riding if you want it. SOme back roads but not many. Kind-of dual sport but more dirt.

Westpoint, Cater Mtn and Livingston are pure woods.

Stewart, Houston and Humphrey's are similar to LBL/Hickman, just not quite as rough in places. It's a little bit more work to piece things together, but on New Year's I think we did a good job with about 70 miles (out of 100 or so) of dirt/gravel in those counties.

Sequatchie Valley

You have a Sherco! I would sure like to see that. I rode trials for a few years. I live in Pikeville, if you do come to the valley I would love to ride with you guys. Riding a Sherpa.

Love me some SV action!

Classic moment on this trip when some fool taped off the by passes - who would ever do that?

Fun day in the woods, my camp that night at Nickajack Lake was a stunner!
