I don't know if that is supposed to be a joke or what? I hope so, but I think it's fair to let folks know they will be watching a motorcyclist get pulverised by a truck. OK?

Has to be a stupid joke... I didn't bother to watch it until you mentioned it.
Notice the "crash" took place off camera.

We are just doing some minor work. Re seating the valves, and so on. I will have a ride report up in the next few days. I'm having too much fun with the engine work to post up now.

Where's the Map?

Hi David:

Miss you and want to know what page you last map is on. I like to follow it. Uncle Dick and I were in Portland too on August 4th! I guess you were in the one on the right coast. If you make it the Portland on the left coast, don't tell crazy Aunt Norine we were there. We saw Uncle Dick's cousin so didn't have time to see her because we were only there for one day.

Glad your trip is going smooth. How's the shoulder feeling? Do you miss us yet? Grandpa's birthday is next Saturday so it might be nice if you get a chance to call him.

10-4, over and out.

XOXOXO,

Aunt Kathie

Taking Highway 1 up the coast of Maine from Portland to Eastport was very pretty. I left Ronni’s place at a decent hour in the morning and made it to Eastport just a bit after dark. Thank you Ronni and April for a week of fun, and help. That night it rained a bit and some of my stuff got wet inside my tent. I decided to sleep in that morning which was a big mistake. It started to pour just as I was finishing packing up. I rushed under some cover but not before I got really wet. The sky looked like it wasn’t going to be clear for awhile so I figured I would be wet for a bit. Luckily as I made my way north up the 1 towards Madawaska it cleared up and I dried off pretty quick. I didn’t make it all the way to Madawaska by dark. I pulled over to get a weather report before continuing on. My phone didn’t get any data coverage so I called home to have someone look it up on a computer. It looked clear ahead of me so I grabbed a snack and rode on. After about ten minutes it started to pour. I decided to turn around because I knew there was cover back in the town I just left, but didn’t know what was up ahead. I found an Ace Hardware store and got under their awning. About 30 minutes after I finished dinner a border patrol agent drove up. We started talking and he said he knew of a better place for me to sleep. He took me to one of the border crossings and showed me hut/shack thing around the corner from the main building. It was a nicer place than where I was. I could lay out my wet clothes and at least sleep on my blow up mattress. It kept raining for most of the night. None of my clothes were even close to being dry the next day. So I took off with wet clothes and headed towards Madawaska. I kind of expected Madawaska to be a bigger kind of town then it really was. I finally made it to number 3 out of 4 of the corners. I got my picture at 4 corners park then went and maxed out my gas tanks before crossing. I was able to cross the border with about 7.5 gallons of fuel. The border guards were real nice. A lot more involved then just a car passing, they didn’t search me though. I think coming back into America will be a bit different possibly. There really isn’t any difference between Canada and America as far as looks go. Well at least not yet anyways. All the signs are in English and French though. New Brunswick isn’t as big as I thought it was. I made it all the way across and to Brian’s place before dark. The scenery was quite beautiful. It started to look more like the way I thought Canada was supposed to look.

After making it to Brian’s we started to strip down the bike. We spent most of the next day working on the bike. The day after that we went to see an underground lake kind of thing. We drove his van down some dirt roads and then had to hike in a little bit and up an almost vertical slope. As we started to walk into the hole it got a lot colder. The water it self was freezing cold, but very clear.

All and all what we did to the bike wasn’t really “needed” but I figured we might as well and it wouldn’t hurt. Since Brian can build these things in his sleep, it was perfect timing to do the work. Better to do some preventative work now then a crap load later. That, and she was eating a little oil.

Ronni and me.

I have ridden my dirt bike from the most South West corner to the most North East corner of the country.

Now at Brian's place.
On the way to the under ground lake.

The lake is in the hole.

Me working on the bike.

Somewhere in Canada this happened too.

Here are a few pictures that Brian took.
