Labradors a bitch aint she??? I crashed going 60mph on the gravel. Ill have a full report on the situation once I can get on my computer. I'm not sure if she even still works. Thats just one of the many things I'm trying to sort out. My only regret is that I didn't get a picture of her all over the road. Ya, ya kill me now. I know that is the first thing one does, even before they make sure they are ok. Got to do it before the adrenaline runs off and you start feeling things again.

Crash #2

David fully explained his 60 mph gravel crash on facebook. He is OK. bruised ribs, possible dislocated shoulder, bruised hip..according to the doctor. No X-rays for 40 miles around. He is in Labrador trying to decide if he will continue on the Trans-Labrador Highway and end up in Michigan, or head south to Maine. We (his family) are all encouraging him to head south as the TL Highway has 600 miles of dirt in the middle of no man's land. Since his bike and his body are banged up, better play it smart to head south. Another trip is always fun to look forward too. Besides, he has to finish the 48 states....he has already done the "plus" part of his trip! He is hardy and happy as many of you well know. (Maybe some Vicodin too? ha) I'm sure he would like some more encouragement though. He is having a difficult time getting phone reception. Sometimes getting WIFI, sometimes texting works. Right now he is resting up 30 miles south of Mary's Bay on the southeastern coast of Labrador. He already went through New Foundland. His family and I are very proud of him! Hang in there David! We are all praying for a full recovery for you and the bike! If you need money, just let us know! We love you! ------Shooter Mom

Eh? WOW...sorry to hear this Dave.

According to your description of being south of Mary's Harbor you had barely started the TLH. The vast majority of gravel and remote way points are still ahead of you... Cartwright, Goose Bay, Churchill Falls, Labrador City.

You are MUCH closer to the coast and "relative" civilization. You may try to book passage on any freighter ship going from Blanc-Salbon to Natashquan going south on the Seaway. This may be tough since I understand this is booked up months in advance, but they may take pity on you. This will get you direct to the states if needed and you do not have to go back through Newfoundland.

PM me if you need anything...Julie, Nyia and Noelle say hello.

He is to let me know if unable to go farther, and i`ll go get him if necessary...back through NFLD and to Nova Scotia is what i would advise,if he gets into the middle of the trans-lab i may not be able to retrieve him,i`m not familiar witrh that stretch of road and my van may not be the best rig to get in there if necessary........

He`s more than welcome to come back here and rest and i`ll repair his bike..if i go after him he`s coming here......

So let him know this Shootermom.......

Shooter Mom:
Yes, we are all very proud of him.

One of the penalties of dirt riding, the Laws of Physics are enforced immediately.

Dave:
Is this injury on the same side as the collarbone? Glad it wasn't worse, but you're on your own if you need money. I'm also glad you didn't mount dual sport tires as I suggested. I'd be entering the Witness Protection Program.

Get Well Soon.

Wink You website friends are amazing!

Wow...thanks techforlife for your offer. Amazing how you all are like family. I am super impressed. I've tried to reach him all day and still haven't got through to him. Last I heard he was on his way to get "diagnosed" by someone with x-rays. I've left messages everywhere, including Facebook and his cell phone. My husband is now calling hospitals in Labrador. Will keep you posted as soon as we hear anything. And yes, we are worried. Please pray. And please let us know if any of you nice people hear from him. Thanks, Shooter Mom, Shooter Dad, Shooter Brother and Shooter Sister

Well, that was fast! Thank you Lord for answered prayer. Just as I was posting, we got word from a hospital in Forteau, Labrador that David had been there. Somehow they reached him and he called us. He is in good spirits (4 1/2 hr time difference from So. Cal, so it's 1:45 am there). Some very nice people from Mary's Harbor (population 471 people) drove him 100 miles (?) to Forteau, waited for him to get patched up, then is now driving him back 100 miles so he can spend the night with them and make his plans tomorrow. (David has always made friends easily...can you tell?) He fell on the same side as Crash #1 and has re-broken his collarbone. It is completely detached. Doc put the sling back on and asked him to rest up for 2-3 weeks....same as last time. That's what 60 mph in gravel will do to you. I don't believe he will be continuing north on the trans-lab highway, but will opt for coming south.
We will be talking to him again tomorrow, and will post as soon as we hear anything new. (Why parents turn gray...)
